Placements and Matchmaking. Low Elo Experience, and a message to the Ragers.
Ok, so I just finished placements on a smurf. I went 3-7, playing with a few friends who are low bronze. They are bad and I played like garbage for whatever reason. I figured id get bronze 4 maybe 3 or 5 if i was unlucky. nope. Silver 5... ummm what?
Last season i was silver 4 at the end of the season on my main and had peaked at silver 2 i barely played ranked at all. This season during placements i went 6-4 and played well in almost all of those games got placed in bronze 2....
During placements on my main account I played almost entirely against high silver players, with the occasional bronze/low silver. During placements on my smurf I played with/against silvers in first 5 or so games. then a lot of bronze players after that. and I was playing with friends who were bronze 4 and 5.
Maybe Im just missing something important here, but something seems really off. Now that ive started looking at na.op.gg more often at the start of games ive also noticed that generally 1 of the 2 teams has several players with sub 50% win rates and while the opposing team has 50% or higher. Now that isnt every game, but its often enough to warrant attention. Ive also seen that on many occasions I have played with people who have thousands of ranked games played, and in the same game there will be a player whos barely out of level 30 with a couple of ranked wins and 50-100 normal wins.
As someone who plays almost entirely normals I'm not here to complain about elo hell, unicorns (no offense
), or any other fictitious things. I just noticed something odd and decided to see if i could find out how this is possible in a system thats suppose to fairly match people.
Last point I want to make before rambling incoherently, is that so many people in silver and bronze do nothing but blame their teams and rage about afks and trolls when most of the time they are the problem. I see it all the time on the boards, and its really discouraging and frustrating to play with people who are like that. I dont play much ranked but so far I havent had hardly any afks, and a lot of the times when i see people accusing someone else of trolling its just cause they arent having a good game. not because they are purposely playing bad and lets be honest if someone isnt very good maybe they dont know how to play better than they are currently, that doesnt make them a troll it makes them bad which is perfectly acceptable its a game not a life or death situation. Im not the nicest person all the time just because it gets really old hearing people talk about how its my fault they died when they tried to 1v3 dive the turret even though they are 50 farm behind and have 3 deaths at 10 minutes, but ive also never been chat restricted or banned because instead of typing and making the situation worse (BECAUSE THATS ALL YOUR DOING WHEN YOU RESPOND TO SALT) I just say it out loud and piss my parents off cause its 5 am and they are trying to sleep. Basically I just want to say to those people who, "do nothing but blame their teams and rage about afks and trolls when most of the time they are the problem" Grow up. This game doesnt revolve around you and if you were incapable of making mistakes or if you were truly playing well you wouldnt be playing with someone like me who doesnt take this game as seriously as Id like to. Im honestly waiting on sandbox mode to jump back into serious mode, because Id rather grind out mechanics than have to play through a hundred games then go back and watch all 100 replays to figure out why im bad.
Now that Im done writing that huge wall of text that most people wont care about. Ill conclude with a TLDR: Basically some weird stuff is happening in matchmaking which makes for some seemingly unfair situations. Ragers annoy me. People over exaggerate their solo que woes in terms of afkers and trolls because they dont want to accept responsibility for their own bad play, and RITO PLEASE SANDBOX SO I CAN HAS CHALLENJOUR RANKING!****
**** not to be confused with challenger, Challenjour is the ranking between bronze and silver in which someone who is really bad has just finished placements 1-10 for the first time and still ended up in silver 5 and have sat at a 50% win rating exactly for 2000 games of ranked because they won the lottery of matchmaking and get carried by master smurfs every other game.
