Getting an S (Measurable Goals)

I think that one of the more appealing aspects of video games is the nature of measurable goals. For example in many Mario games you can look at the World Map and see "Okay I have 5 more levels till the Castle," or as in most games a currency is use to buy items that upgrade your stats or provide better gear, weapons, etc. and when using this currency, be it coins, souls or IP/RP, you can tell how much more of it you need to buy an item/upgrade.

I think that League does an excellent job with this. When rising up through levels 1-30 you know how much XP and roughly how many games you need to level up and when it comes to purchasing champions, runes, or skin IP and RP prices are clear on the item and you can always see how much of each you have.

One area that I personally have been frustrated with is the grading system. I always wonder after a game either "Why didn't I get a higher grade" or "What could I have done better?" As someone is the comments may have pointed out already I am Bronze(Wood) 5. I have no ground to stand on when it comes to how good I am at League or most video games for that matter. That being said I do think that it would be a good idea to let the community know how stats qualify as an S for their champ and relative rank.

I can already see some potential arguments against this namely: "Players will just exploit this" I think that if after a game you were to be shown the stats of an S players game you can work towards that goal. For example if I get a B+ on Kassadin when I played him mid, you could have a stat bar showing something like this:

CS during Laning Phase:64/102 CS after Laning Phase:127/125 Time Spent Roaming:67/134 Kills During Roaming:1/3 Kills in Laning Phase:2/5 Kills after Laning Phase:6/7 Dmg done to Structures:1600/2000 Dmg done to Drakes/Baron:1200/1500

(Laning Phase could be defined as the first period of the game in which the laners are in their lanes for 90 out of every 120 sec. Jungler is free to party during this time)

From here I can see that I need to work on my CS during Laning phase and my kills Roaming and in Laning Phase. From this I can see that I need to work on trades and early game combos. Stats like these will encourage players to exploit this system, which I think will make them a better player.

Please let me know your thoughts and I would love any feedback on this!

It would be nice I agree, and also not very hard for Riot to do. The system already measures you, but it would be awesome if it would show what it was measuring

i think that'd be a very useful tool in the after-game lobby, but I wouldn't like that ingame. Perhaps something showing your grade so far would suffice.

I'm pretty sure Riot explicitly said they weren't going to reveal the formula because they think it would encourage players to play for stats rather than the win. (Of course, just by having the system, they're already doing that to an extent. But presumably they think the tradeoff would be too high.)
