LCS diversity and champ design

I have been watching LCS and champion diversity is very much non existent. TBH some champions are just better than other champions in x position because of design. For example, Braum is a strong support pick because he has ranged CC ability, shield, mobility and team fight impact with his ult. Janna is another good example of a strong support champ as she has ranged CC, shield, mobility, and team fight impact with ult.

Specific champion attributes are crowding out other champion choices for x position role. Some may argue that team comp matters but regardless of comp, Janna and Braum are safe picks. Leona would not be a safe pick because she sieges the enemy and doesn't have ranged CC. Leona's ult is a watered down version of Braum's ult.

In terms of design, since Janna and Braum's attributes are the standard for support role, shouldn't all new support champions at least have these attributes ie ranged CC, mobility... or else they become not usable in LCS. I am using support as an example, this concept can be seen in other positions as well.

Additionally, I understand power creep occurs and is normal for most games. Since this happens should not older designed champs be more frequently revisited to make them more comparable picks to the standard? While I understand reworks are happening they are happening very slowly and should probably be more frequent.

Leona's ult is the definition of ranged CC, FWIW. I'd like to see more diversity too though.

Ranged CC ability, not ult, is what I meant. Sorry for not being clear.

I feel this more of falls into not on balance but simply because of pro player, play style. In the lcs I honestly want to say almost every pro player is suffering through jitters and is constantly holding back. You gotta realize these guys have jobs they are constantly defending while trying to earn tonry prize money. You don't want something with high risk high reward, you want to do something smart and safe.

I will give you a famous example

Amazeing is one of the best lee sin players you will ever see

Amazeing in the all stars event went god mode ham, and eradicated almost every jungler on the stage.

The moment the lcs started he switched to a much safer play style and has not shown anywhere near that same carry potential.

Prize money simply makes pro players play safer and less risky

By game design, you wouldn't want your carry coming from the JG. Laning provides far more CS which equates to more items. So he switched to a supportive JG role with strong CC and mobility no doubt. Besides Lee's ult, CC is something he doesn't have and he isn't all that useful in team fights either.

This brings me back to my point of being the standard for a role. JG would want a strong CC champ for early ganks with ranged CC of some sort. Popular recent LCS JG choices have these attributes, Elise, Reksai, Gragas which makes other JG champs not ideal picks. In theory you wouldn't pick yi, zin, or ww because they don't possess any of the aforementioned attributes. They should be candidates for reworks in order to make them plausible picks as LCS champs.

And then there's the meta sheep that follow this meta. Someone told me they would report me if I played Graves ADC rather than top lane. Champion diversity is low, but it's been lower. Hopefully this will change as balance changes come through. I mean, we did just see Zilean stomp TSM, did we not?
