Thanks @Riot for crippling Aatrox (PLZ REVERT)

I have been an avid Aatrox player since S6, I also realize that there currently are many threads devoted to the recent Aatrox nerfs (Aatrox nerfs in 2k17lul). I never bothered posting on this board, however I now feel the need to express my thoughts/frustration. Needless to say, this is somewhat of a rant.

Clarification:

  • Aatrox was not weak (in the soloQ environment)
  • Aatrox never struggled with the health costs on his abilities
  • Aatrox never struggled with building up and maintaining blood well (unless first-timing Aatrox and getting dunked on in your promos)

To me it seems that the changes were based on false beliefs, I can only make sense of them by thinking they're to make Aatrox' gameplay less toxic/to play against. I'm sure this is a major reason.

They approached this issue by taking the one thing that made Aatrox viable (being a soloQ splitpush champion) and limiting it to a 4 second window, which as a side-note, deleted Jgl Aatrox from the game. (I'm talking about the AS from blood well). Apparently, it too was toxic for Aatrox E (which dealt magic dmg) to have an AP ratio, so APtrox(/Hextech/Rageblade-Trox) had to be removed from the game as well.

I'm extremely disappointed to see this ignorant course of action, it would've taken a single glance to /r/Aatroxmains for actual starting points relating Aatrox changes, but even while trying to reach out to them, we've been ignored.

TLDR

  • People/Riot think(s) changes are buffs, while never having played the champion
  • The changes crippled Aatrox' strength by limiting it to an unreliable 4 second-window
  • Jgl- and AP Aatrox killed
  • Riot ignores champion enthusiasts (rip2Galiomains)
  • Aatrox boom
  • Please revert nerfs

"Someone at Riot took a hit and was like, let's just take Aatrox and give him a shitty passive to make him more useless"

  • Dyrus

Also excuse my OCD formatting.

none of his weaknesses were fixed, only made more exploitable

Yeah they really made his killing himself by using abilities more exploitable by removing or lowering all of his health costs lmao.

That never was a weakness, the healthcost was effectively nothing , even before considering how often you had to use it, the new passive is garbage, procced it a whopping 2 times last game and revived once. Go play him before commenting and if you didn't play him before don't bother.

Stopped reading.

if you actually read what other people had to say you'd see most ppl agree, including OP, but you think you know it all despite never having used the champion effectively. Read what wendin has to say "percentage health costs weren't a problem"

Stop cherrypicking shit to quote, it's quite obvious you didnt use old aatrox and you think everyone is just blowing smoke about this. Maybe take some time to understand the topic you're talking about before trying to defend a shitty point. It's fine to admit you're wrong. But, standing by a false or largely wrong claim is asenine and it wastes yours and my time. You have no actual evidence as to how he used to play or currently plays because you've never even used him(correct me if I'm wrong) let alone used him very well, thus all you have to form an opinion on is other people's experiences and the patch notes. The patch notes state what was done. Watch people's gameplay with him, if they used him before the patch they will likely come to the same conclusion mostly everyone has. I have not seen anyone who has actually used him before and after say he is better off. Stop trolling dude

So true. Feels like they wanted to make him a more tanky hero who builds HP. But then thought "oh shit a tanky hero with lifesteal and a second life? OP AS SHIT!" and made his passive garbage.

Too bad they didn't know that tanky Aatrox problem wasn't the percentage of health costs of his spells but the fact that this hero dosen't deal any damage without 3 Offensive Items. And now he deals even less.

And so they nerfed everywhere they could (dmg and passive) so neither full offensiv nor tanky/bruiser Aatrox are viable.

Well stated. This really makes me question how things are run at Riot.

I honestly want to know who was responsible for testing this bs and see their match history, I got a ton of S(s) with him shortly before the changes and now I cant even have a positive kdr.

"Oh umm, aatrox is hard, so uhh lets make him more tanky(by reducing a 100 hp cost? srsly?he recovers that much with 1 auto if built right), oh wait, a tank that self revives...ummm, yeah we'll make his passive useless. got it" -Riot dev team
