After playing around with Irelia for a while, I noticed something... Irelia may not be favored in a lot of matchups, but her unparalleled ability to farm under tower or in adverse conditions makes it difficult for her to actually lose lane. That on top of her ability to stun for 2 seconds on a short CD makes her able to simply not interact with her lane opponent while getting very easy farm... I personally think that, for a champion with so much mobility, sustain, CC, and output, all with unparalleled ability to farm in all conditions, she needs something to give up. Because of the way her stun works, the moment her lane opponent engages, she stuns and is able to walk away.

As an Irelia main, I assure you she can be beaten. Real abusive champions, like Renekton, Olaf, Pantheon, Wukong, Fiora, Riven all can beat her in lane. It's not an auto-win for them necessarily, I have won in all those matchups, but they certainly can beat her.

But where Irelia loses out is lategame. She falls off HARD. Many splitpushers outduel her late game, Jax, Tryndamere, Trundle, Xin. Even some ADCs can destroy her at full items, Lucian, Twitch, Sivir. Also, her utility falls off as well, as a Maokai, Nautilus, Rammus, Malphite are far more effective as peelers or engagers. I have stomped these lanes 1000x just to have a 1/12 Malphite ult for his team late game and win fights.

I assure you, Irelia ican be very hard to win with depending on team compositions. Even regardless of compositions, at late game, her weakness is greatly felt.

She gets a safe early game, a good midgame and pays by having a bad late game. I do not see the problem here.

"her unparalleled ability to farm under tower or in adverse conditions" If ease to farm was a condition to be compensated for and have to "give up" things all AD champions would be nerfed, mid mages have their mana cost doubled, and Zed would probably need his ult removed. The only ones who wouldn't be nerfed under this sort of thinking is.... who? Swain maybe?
