@Riot Why do you make things harder on yourselves? Also, complaint about runes
I'm not complaining about the rune itself, as I don't think it's too strong, but rather the components of it, in that this single rune shows Riot's entire garbage design philosophy.
Conqueror: PASSIVE: Entering combat generates one stack every second for the next 3 seconds. After reaching 4 stacks, your next basic attack within 3 seconds against an enemy champion grants 10 - 35 (based on level) bonus Attack Damage for 3 seconds and converts 20% of your damage to champions to true damage for the duration. Entering combat will refresh the triggering attack duration. Melee role Melee champions refresh the bonus damage duration when going in combat by affecting enemy champions.
This is my #1 issue with Riot's design team, tacking on much more than what needs to be to literally anything they add.
Why does it need to give bonus AD? It isn't a ton, but still, why have it at all? Would the rune not be good with just the true damage conversion? Then raise the % on it instead of over-complicating it.
I could go on for hours talking about these kinds of issues.
You made it harder on yourselves by allowing more than 1 rune tree to be selected. E.G. Getting Stopwatch with any other tree as your main.
If it was limited to 1 rune tree on release, Stopwatch would have been a lot more reasonable as people would have had to take inspiration as their main rune tree. You also wouldn't have had to screw around with figuring out the numbers for the bonuses you get for taking the certain combinations of rune trees.
Currently runes are useless and add nothing to gameplay. People select whatever is best for their champion with no reason to pick anything else really. You don't adjust them to counter your enemy laner. And no, it isn't like summoner spells, because summoner spells are used with thought and purpose behind them in-game. Runes are taken and forgotten about the entire game as they are mostly used passively.
Get rid of the rune system all-together. It does nothing but complicate balancing champions even further for you, Riot.
