So. Bounty Gold.

Didn't Riot remove the two-kill bounty to cut down on gold creep entering the game..? Or something along those lines. I swear it hasn't even been 4 patches since they removed the 2-kill bounty, and they're reintroducing it again. Basically reverting the bounty system back to being the massive problem it was before. Hhhhmmmm.

Yup, we're on our way to a meta where people are going to be scared of taking risks. Example :

You get a solo kill in mid lane (+300G), later the enemy jungler ganks you, you manage to kill the enemy laner (+274G) but die to the jungler (+450G, +150G for the assist). Result : you are 2/1 but down 26G overall.

Lots of people complained that there was too much snowball, now they are gonna say they can't maintain a lead.

Patch 8.10

Currently, the rewards a player gets for performing well are too split amongst the whole team, and we'll be looking to remedy that over time. We're starting this patch with Bounties, shifting the reward from a team one to a personal one, and we'll be investigating other team rewards going forward

[Removes 1 Kill Bounty] [Removes 2 Kill Bounty] [Converts all other bounties to killer only rewards] [Death sets bounty back to 0 instead of -3 bounty]

Patch 8.13

A bounty is a reward to a team who takes down a champion who has been pulling ahead. Essentially, it's the way we make it worthwhile to keep fighting even while you're down. Currently, those bounties often don't kick in until it's too late for the laning phase: Fighting from three kills down is pretty terrifying. We're introducing a level 2 bounty—and also increasing bounty gold overall—to make fighting from behind feel more rewarding. Still the same risk (dying again), but a much better reward.

[Re-adds 2 Kill Bounty] [Reverts solo gold reward back into team gold reward]

As far as I can see, none of that was to reduce the total gold in the game. It looks like 8.10 was intended to reward individuals who took down high priority targets, while 8.13 is intended to but some breaks on snowballing.

I didn't see that

I might be misinterpreting it, but I do believe that's what they mean when they said "A bounty is a reward to a team"

nah they would have been clear if they made a big change like that

You'd hope so, but they didn't specify that Nimbus Cloak triggers after channeled abilities when they introduced it in the patch notes, and that's a pretty big disclaimer too.

So they're completely reverting the changes. Fun, fun.

Not completely. The net change comes out to something like this:

  • removed 1 Kill Bounty bonuses
  • less gold possible when someone has been on a kill streak > 3 kills
