I'm an ADC MF main, how do you think i feel, if it isn't picked by the enemy team its banned by my team. If I do get in game then all my friends spam me with messages asking me if I am playing support mf. I am in hell, somebody save me.

What I mean is that in NORMALS, obviously, if you're going a damage support, then there are two ways you can do it. The top game I built a sighstone because I had an early gold lead. We could pressure the lane still with the -800 gold because we had an early lead. They had a mid shaco and a Rek'Sai jungler so a sighstone was essential to the safety of the lane.

The second game though? They had a Cass. She doesn't roam much. They had a Fiora jungler in a premade with their top laner who stayed top all game. The sighstone wasn't on my priority list. Instead I rushed a Zhonya's and set up as many engages in other lanes as I could, and the Zhonyas kept me from dying. I had the least deaths on the team. Even without the sightstone I still had the most wards on the team.

There isn't just one staple build you do every single game. You change your build based on the game.

In ranked sure. If it's normals and your lane has 19 kills and you're at their inhib, no need. Your entire team can control vision with their trinket. If they aren't warding as much or if you lose your first towers (so they go into your jungle) then by all means. For example in your last game, you had just as many wards placed as your Thresh who had a sightstone. In my last game our top laner only had 3 wards. Vision is a team game.

If your team plays the vision game and closes the game out quickly a sightstone isn't essential. And yes, that's something bronze/silver people say because it only works in bronze/silver

Try not having vision in higher ELO and you'd be fucked.

I'm actually really sick of this argument of "Supports should build a Sightstone ALWAYS," and here's why;

Normals are played to have FUN. So why is my ADC choosing what I build? If I want to play full AP Morgana (which I know I can 1v2, and have fun with), then I should be able to skip Sightstone for an AP item.
Yes, in high ranked games it's probably best to buy Sightstone, but in lower ELOs many laners do not focus around vision. I'm not just talking about bot lane here, either. So while having a Sightstone might be good, it's not mandatory. So stop acting like it is.
I'm the SUPPORT. I'm a PLAYER, just like you all, and I make my OWN choices. I can choose what to buy by myself. How would you, the ADC, feel if I told you, "Build what you want, but you HAVE to build Maw of Malmortius or I'm flaming and blaming you for this loss"? I've come across many ADCs who have acted this way with Sightstone (on a champion that doesn't need it), and I want to cry.

A note to the comment I'm replying to; I agree 100%. More vision is necessary at some points of the game, and it's not just the supports' job. If people want to complain about not having enough vision, they should talk to the team, and not just blame their support. Also, vision is vital in higher ELOs because junglers make smarter ganks, and you need that vision to tell where they are before they strike. In bronze or silver, games can end REALLY quickly, and sometimes you snowball the game so hard from the start that you don't need that Sightstone.

Moral of the story; have some more frigging respect for your support. I, a support main, might not be the most important person on your team, but I'm pretty dang important. Don't act like you can change my play style to fit your own selfish ideals. If I know I can carry, I'm GOING to carry.

I build Sightstone on Nami, Lulu, and Taric. I don't build Sighstone on Lux, Morgana, and Brand. Depending on who I play, I will play different play-styles. I will use whatever strategy I think is best, and if it doesn't involve Sightstone, tough luck.

Re: 2) I don't know what you call "high ranked", but from my experience, even as low as Silver 2, you'll lose games if you don't control vision properly.

Re: 1) It's not "other players choosing what you build", it's more "other players complaining when you do obvious mistakes". ALL Junglers start with Machette or Talisman and upgrade that into a Tier 2 Jungle item. And if you spot the rare guy who don't, you should tell him to do it. Obviously you can make your own choices, but make them between two viable alternatives; you don't have a right to take bad decisions.

Re: 3) I don't know how the ADC feels, but when I'm Support and the situation you described happens, YES, I do tell them to build Hexdrinker or I blame them for the loss (or more commonly, to build an Executioner against a Soraka). Because yes, it's exactly the same problem as the Sightstone.

It's perfectly fine on principles to adapt your build to the current situation. And yet in practice, 19 times out of 20, the current situation requires a Sightstone. Granted, "19 out of 20" isn't "ALWAYS", and I don't want to be rude, but if the "strategy you think is best" doesn't include Sightstone, chances are you're not thinking good.

you dont understand. Understanding why a pick is good and abusing it doesnt mean I have to do it 1:1 like the pros. Its soloque, its a completly different gamemode, people dont utilize vision as much even if you put it down and most of the time your trinket is enough for laning.I have success with it, also people in my elo dont tend to be negative about it at all. It works, its not bad, I only abuse the fact thats pretty opressive in the right lane matchups. Its funny how much people who are generally way lower in elo then me want to tell me how to play the game~

No offense, but I always see people tell support players to always build a sightstone but I don't nearly see as much of a collective effort to tell laners to use their trinkets and keep their ward counts up.

Support mains in particularly almost always buy it anyway, and it's [technically, but not really] optional while other players don't get nearly as flack for not warding, despite it being free and just as integral to the strategical element of vision.

The only time I actually forgo sightstone for a few items is when they have Eve jungle and a mid laner that has no place roaming bot lane. I'm not wasting 800g early game on an item that actually does nothing for me when we have 3 people with warding trinkets to see dragon.

Bitch if I am Annie Velkoz Kennen support, and I have all the kills BC you kept dying before me, maybe YOU should build the sightstone since I am the one doing the carrying here.

As a side note: If you are mad at your support for getting kills, remember that we are probably only doing it to MAKE SURE they don't get away. I have watched too many ADC "mains" cancel the last auto and let a free kill walk away. I have no mercy, I will not relent. I will make sure they die, by my hand or yours. On the other hand, if you are bitching at me all the time, I might make a point of taking kills BC you can't AA cancel a goddamn lightning bolt! Kennen

Played a game today with an MF support. I was top trundle, support was hovering thresh but then at the last second said "let's go MF support Koreans are op" and then proceeded to lock MF even though he had 0 idea how to play/build it. No ignite tlords spell thiefs or anything, just built full ad as if he was the ad carry. MF ended up dying 14 times and was no use to the team.

Tl;Dr at least ****ing research how to build it if you are going to do it please

MF pretty much just takes a major dump on Zyra in lane because of the plants. Zyra's plants literally become a liability to her and her ADC by adding a spot for the double up poke to work from a distance. Other than that, she really isn't that great and can be considered as an AD Brand without an CC and needs items to stay relevant.

I'm talking about supports, because we're discussing supports. I'm also not even taking Rylai's/Frozen Mallet into consideration.

Here is a list of supports tagged as supports in the LoL client that don't have any movement-impairing CC:

Notice how the lists are empty? Try looking at the "mage", "support", and "tank" categories. Movement-impairing CC in some form or another is massively prevalent to the point of being universal; you need more than that to be a support. Every support that only has a simple slow, like MF, also has healing/shielding abilities. Or some other form of utility. The rest have multiple CC options, or their CC is a hard one like a stun. MF brings only one AoE slow, and from what I understand that wasn't even why she was picked; she was picked because her double up could be used on Zyra's plants for guaranteed max-range poke and because her ADC was Ashe, who already brings support-levels of slows and a stun to the table by default.

The plant stuff is actually rather irrelevant. It's the combination of Ashe + MF (seriously, that's important, it doesn't work/make sense without Ashe, Jhin or theoretically Varus) and Zyra's inability to interrupt MF's ultimate in time.

It's a counter pick to Zyra support; that is specifically combo'd with Ashe or Jhin. Basically, ding 6 and both ult.

MF support has been a thing previously; it has just gotten wide notice b/c of Worlds.

How about people just don't play Zyra support and play blitz for an easy gg bot ? Even more so a nice Taric / trist combo works well. Mf doesn't have the sustain nor does she provide sustain to live on the jump stuns bursts or stop them. Riot doesn't need to nerf her, she's very easily countered. People that cn'at take advantage of that are people that only follow the pro-Meta and can't think for themselves.

And when they enemy support isn't picked yet. I've had success with multiple different ADCs as MF Support such as Ashe, Jhin, Varus, and I believe I had an Ez or Jinx game in there. As long as your ADC has a brain and they didn't pick Leona or Braum it doesn't matter what your ADC picks since you are like Zyra where you 1v2 the lane anyway.

Look at the play rate too. I saw pants are dragon playing it and I would say he one the game because of ONE good ashe arrow (the only good arrow) into a MF ult. His gameplay was horrible mechanics wise. When people get used to it it will probably create a situation where mf and ashe can be on the same team about 0.1% of games.
