Is it worth learning Illaoi?

Should I start playing Illaoi? I'm about to start ranked and every time I've seen an Illaoi she just dominates in 1v1s and teamfights. It seems to me like nobody in low elo knows how to play against her, so would it really be worth learning her to climb low elo?

yes, collecting free elo from bad players while Illaoi teaches you a strong set of fundamentals on macro play is a win-win situation.

yes freelo in low elo most of the times. (do not play her into a darius if he is good he will destroy you

What are you talking about? She destroys Darius. You have to respect him a bit until 6. But any time her ult is up he absolutely cannot fight her.

I pick her into Darius every time I see him.

a good darius will destroy a good illaoi. all he need to do is play with minions. (so she cannot e) and if she does hit this just pull her. if she ult you you just run away not much she can do, and Q if needed. like i said a good darius will destroy a good illaoi

Well maybe if he ever gets high enough elo to run into these mystical "good" Darius, I've yet to run into one that I haven't smashed in lane.

The problem is that Darius can't fight Illoai the way he fights everyone else, by just trucking at her without caring. Illoai with her ult WILL kill him before she gets low enough for him to execute. It will probably be a long climb till you find someone who can make the lane hard.

every time i see illaoi they are 1 tricks i go darius and win lane. last time ei was againt an illaoi she went 0/12 (illaoi main)

I'll just throw that out there.

OP.GG also shows Illoai beating him most of the time.

Then in personal experience it's a pretty easy lane.

how is 4% more win rate is counter? + you cannot take win rates seriously. win rates are EVERYONE even people that first time a champ after a buff. EVERYTHING. its skill not win rate

I'm just saying that if he countered her it definitely wouldn't be positively skewed to her side.

Illaoi can poke and farm from longer range than Darius and wins against him in an all in post level 6. As long as you don't play 1-5 like an idiot and feed him you have to play the lane pretty damn poorly to lose it.

Darius beats Illaoi; DirtyMobs, the best Illaoi in NA right now, lists him as a hard matchup

everything is worth learning but learning simpler champs will make your macro even better because you spend less time understanding the champion

So basically it is a good idea to learn both a simpler champ like Illaoi to help game knowledge but also have a few harder champs in my pool so I can also learn how to get used to champion mechanics?

She is strong in low elo but not against me (probably because I'm a Vel'Koz and Urgot main).

The main issue why she's strong in low elo is everybody group together go all gangster on her while she's designed to be anti-gangster.

I think I lost count on how many times I went [zombie-brand-facepalm] when I pinged to fall back vs an enemy Illaoi especially when it comes to tight spaces.

To get straight to the point, yes Illaoi is worth learning. I tried her before. She's fun to play. Her ulti is so badass and quite satisfying too.

Not sure how low your "low elo" is, but my advice is to play a champion or champions that you enjoy/like/resonate with, etc. If you enjoy a champion enough, their mechanics wont seem like a chore to learn, regardless if they are complex or simple.

It is said that you can climb to diamond 4 with about ANY champion in the game if you know them well enough and can focus on your macro. I know that I personally climbed from Bronze 5 (when it still existed XD) All the way to silver 3 as Skarner top lane. Im currently Gold 4/3 and still love playing this champion. (EVEN THOUGH RIOT SEEMS SET ON NOT FIXING HIM RIGHT NOW!)(Sad face for me)

But yeah, focus on learning how to win the game, but play a champion that you enjoy. Follow guides and watch gameplay to get a jump start on how they work in general, and then adapt the champion to your playstyle or visa versa. Have fun and dont flame! :)

You might love her, you might not. That’s really a personal preference thing.

In my experience, a bad Darius will spend too much time trying to proc their bleed and get their ult up. And then they die. A good Darius will wait for Illaoi to get low on mana or her cooldowns, go as ham as he can and then back the hell off if he can't finish her by the time her abilities are up. The 5% missing health heal is only good when her health is low and with the amount of tentacles Illaoi should have out it can keep her alive longer than you think.

But anyway, yeah Illaoi's super fun especially if the opponent doesnt have much experience against her, which is most of low elo. They'll just sit under turret getting their spirits ripped out and complaining about lack of counterplay and how op she is.
