How about we make an actual Trinity Force for Tanks?

item 3010+item 3024+item 3211=Aegis of the Immortal

Grants a buncha mana, solid HP, good Ar and MR, CDR, and retains its various unique passives. Additionally it grants: Spellblade: After using an ability the next basic attack (OnHit) against an enemy champion heals you for (some percentage of your base attack damage). This ability has a 1.5 second cooldown.

By key-wording the ability in with Spellblade it makes it pretty unattractive to the various Trinity/Tanky Bruiser types. This item would thus serve as a really useful core for a Tank to build the rest of their specialized mitigation around. Because yes, Tanks do build reactively. But it's pretty darn uncommon that the enemy team is going to be totally lacking in one damage type, so having a slot-efficient source of all three defense types makes an important core for Tanks to build around.

Thoughts?

...Why would any bruiser not just buy this? It gives every single defence, Cdr, AND a great heal everytime they hit someone. In fact, why would any bruiser not buy this AND a trinity force, so they get great everything, in addition to a large amount of bonus damage on hit coupled with a huge heal (remember, trinity and iceborn work with trinity damage to the main target AND a slow field + secondary damage to surrounding targets. No reason this wouldn't work like that to).

Spellblades don't stack, so you would only get one depending on priority.

They don't stack ON THE SAME target, damage wise. If you get iceborn + Lichbane/Trinity, you'll notice that the Lichbane/Trinity damage is applied to whoever you auto, and the iceborn gauntlet slow field + 125% base AD applies to everyone within Iceborn Gauntlet range.

There is absolutely no reason to assume a tank spellblade would not apply the heal while doing Trinity's damage to the target you hit if you got both.

Renekton / Garen / Shen are all no eff's given on Mana. I like the idea of the item for Naut / Sej / Voli

Shen is really the only True Tank who doesn't like mana. Honestly, Energy is a pretty awful resource for a Tank. Tanks want to be in the thick of the fight using their disruptive and soaking skills as often as possible and Energy punishes that ideal play pattern.

Garen and Rene really aren't Tanks. They're the sort of middle ground that is typically labeled a Bruiser.

Any True Tank other than Shen would probably love it, though.

i think the heal should be based on a combination of Ar and MR or just %HP. the damage scaling would incourage building damage wouldn't it?(not exactly a tank thing)

Sirsir1 votes

It scales with Base damage, building AD wouldn't affect it.

We have a trinity force for tanks. item 3025 Having a heal on it would make some people pretty OP. You know who I thought would love this item? Swain Ryze

An Item that scales in damage based on Armor, Magic Defense and with %max health would be cool

well he have item 3025 for tanks. i mean sure not every tank will get much if any use out the Mana it gives but then again there's a lot of champs that get item 3078 and item 3100 even tho they don't use the Mana they give so idk

also there's no item 3057 in that build to give Spellblade and a Spellblade effect to heal instead of do damage is awfully OP and doesn't make much sense imo

so to call it a Spellblade item doesn't make sense but the item in general could be better and not so OP if reworked a bit i think

Sounds very op, tanks are not meant to do damage, the last thing we want is a garen with more damage.

Tanks are meant to whip wet noodles

Iceborn gauntlet is the "Tank trinity force"

The only thing I could think was Udyr

Do you understand how OP Udyr would become and not just him but loads of champions like him.

This would bring Godyr to a whole other level.

I mean shoot, even Nasus would be a bigger problem.

Grab Trinity and this and you will be unstoppable.

Not liking it too much.

The sheer number of people who are confused about what named passives mean causes me great dismay.

The reason why the proposed item has the Spellblade passive is specifically to make it so it doesn't work with other Spellblade items. It is to make it so Irelia wouldn't be able to grab this thing AND Trinity. I'll make this simple. This item's passive would disable any other Spellblade effects. No bonus damage. No slow field. Nothing but the OnHit heal.

Also, Iceborn isn't a Tank item. It doesn't provide nearly enough of a defensive boost for it to be one. If anything, it's a Bruiser item akin to Wit's End.

  1. This item would add no additional damage unless the champion buying it gets extra damage from armor or HP or something.

  2. Garen isn't a Tank

  3. Most Tanks deal significant AoE damage over time. See, Amumu, Rammus, Alistar ect. This isn't WoW. The only way to get the enemy team to focus a Tank is by being a threat in some capacity (AoE damage over time, resist shreds, auras, oodles of CC, or even heavy single target damage).
