[Quality of life] Mouse Cursors During actions

Hello.

I'm one of the many summoners who use the Attack key (Default A or X) and I notice that the cursor visually changes location depending on the action about to be queued.

Pressing the Attack key will bring up a red targeting cross-hair and pressing any targeting-based ability/spell key brings up a blue targeting cross-hair.

These cross-hairs do not visually line up with one another, and I believe that it is the ability/spell cross-hair Attack Crosshair that could or should be adjusted to visually line up with the Attack action cross-hair rest of the cursor placements.

Another targeting visual that could use a look is Evelynn's kit. I don't own all of the champions, so I can't confirm this next statement, but nearly every skill shot is effected by the Enable Line-missile Display which does not effect Evelynn's first cast of Hate Spike or Last Caress.

Secondly, and I believe this affects champions where the VFX materialize from a specific area of the model of the champion [Height above the ground, to the left or right of the center of the champion, slightly ahead or behind the champion, ect.] is the issue with skill shots also not lining up visually with their Line-Missile indicators. This effects Blitzkrank and Evelynn for certain, but there might be more. Thresh's skill shot seems to avoid this problem due to the way he extends his flay directly before his body in a straight line. Same with Kled.

Evelynn and Blitzkrank fire their Q from a specific location on their body, but the Line-missile indicator falsely displays the indicator as though it will launch from the center of their bodies directly ahead of them, like with Kled and Thresh.

For those champions that have Skill shots like these, I would like to see the Line-missile display indicator more accurately indicate the trajectory of the skill shot, including where it will end. The indicators lay flush on the ground, but the projectiles fly above the ground, and it is visibly noticible especially when near and around the river or on base steps.

TL:DR

Ability Targeting Cursor is off center from Attack Targeting cursor and should line up.

Evelynn's kit does not respond to Enable Line-missile display toggle settings.

Champions with skill shots that fire from a specific part of the model should have their indicators readjusted so that they visually line up with the actual path traveled.

A tuned guitar plays beautiful music. But even the loveliest melody becomes uninteresting of the guitar is out if tune.

*Example Morrowind was a very cool game. But in all that it had to offer, the glossing over of the targeting crosshair sort of ruined the total experience. For having precision attacks like throwing stars and arrows that are affected by gravity, having the crosshair offset to a lower position on the screen to fix the bug with the marksman projectiles meant more work for the player who wanted to be a mid-to-long distant Marksman or Assassin.

Thanks for reading.

Edit: I was really tired and misspoke a line that was fixed.

Small up-date

I would like to show you what I do to come to these conclusions, but taking screen captures does not capture the mouse.

The best thing I can say to do to see exactly what I am talking about is to launch a Practice Tool game with Nidalee. Once in game, go to a secluded area or de-toggle minions, then place a Training dummy far off in the distance right next to a control ward. Spend your ability point on Javelin Toss, then position Nidalee so that the Training dummy is at the very edge of Nidalee's targeting ellipse. Move your mouse cursor just to the edge of the Training dummy's hit box so that the next pixel would clear the cursor of its target condition. Notice how the condition of the cursor changes from the Sword to the Pointer.

Now, without moving the cursor, press the Basic Attack Command key. Notice the variation in location across the 3 pointers you just inspected. Next, without moving the cursor and while the red cross-hair is still there for Basic Attack Command, press Nidalee's Q to bring up her Javelin Toss targeting, notice the degree of separation between these cursors?

I notice the severe effects happen with skills that have targeting ranges near the basic attack range. You have to move your mouse when issuing different commands if you are a precision clicker, but you seem to be very less effected if you are a preemptive skill shot or long distance skill shot champion like Nidalee or Ezreal.

But that's just my issue with this problem, you have to move your mouse cursor when using these different targeting functions in order to avoid error-ing up and moving to the location you intended to attack a unit near.

It is a huge issue for champions like Annie who's Casting range and Attack ranges are precisely the same. Kiting a highly mobile champion with a champion like this create more room for error due to the way the Mouse cursors behave. I highly feel this should be prioritized.

Here are a few concerns that came to mind while testing this out.

  • Is there a Software Cursor function that is having side effects when converting the interface to different display formats?
  • Are the graphics for the various states of the cursor sized and aligned appropriately for all resolutions since the addition of new ones?
  • Which Cursors position is considered the intended "at rest" position for all states of the cursor?

Thanks again.
