Funny Zoe Idea: Global Portal Jump

Portal Jump

  • Zoe is no longer rooted at the end of of Portal Jump. She can freely move after the teleport, but is warped back to her original location after 3 seconds. Can be reactivated to warp back early.
  • No longer grants vision over walls
  • Can now be cast outside of the normal range, up to 6000 range, but doing so causes the mana cost and cooldown to be quadrupled.

Paddle Star

  • Star lingers at max range after the first cast for up to 2 seconds (was 1 second)

Zoe is a trickster and a rule-breaker, and it would totally fit her theme if she had global presence, the ability to pop up where she really shouldn't be and cause mischief.

A global Portal Jump would let her appear in any lane, throw out a Sleepy Trouble Bubble, chunk them with a Paddle Star, and return to her lane. She could snipe a Paddle Star across a huge range if she can predict her opponent's movement far enough in the future. She could check objectives, finish off enemies who are recalling, and generally be a nuisance all over the place. However, this would come at a pretty substantial mana cost, and increasing the cooldown puts a huge damper on her ability to play normally. At rank 1, a global teleport would put her Portal Jump on cooldown for almost a minute, which would hurt her ability to lane significantly.

No, she's fine.

She'd had ~45% winrate for four patches, and the most recent buffs have only brought it up to 48%. She is most certainly not fine.

Besides, this isn't about balance, it's about fantasy fulfillment. Zoe is basically a trickster god who teleports all over Runeterra causing mischief and having fun. Allowing her to appear briefly anywhere on the map fits the fantasy of Zoe.

Yeah, lets just give Zoe even more range for her Q to one-shot people. As if it doesn't already do that from its regular cast range.

Zoe's Paddle Star range is limited by her location. If she launched her star in the midlane, jumped over to botlane, and redirected it, she would be forced back to midlane before the star reached bot, causing it to be destroyed. She would get more range than before, but no cross-map snipes.

The Star's damage also has a cap. It doesn't matter how long the range is, it can't deal more damage than that cap. Enemies also have a larger window to dodge the star or bodyblock it for the carry the further Zoe launches it from.

On top of that, she wouldn't be able to Portal Jump for a much longer duration, and it cost her a huge chunk of mana. Those long-range jumps wouldn't be sustainable.

People would find a way to abuse it. Being able to appear across the map instantaneously is HUGE. Especially on a mid laner. If this was actually a thing, she'd either be super busted, or Riot would have to nerf her to the point of being useless to balance it.

Her ult right now is fine, honestly.
