Challenger players not being able to duo queue was a -recent- change that is being reverted due to queue times and little diversity in who top tier players would play against. In addition to this, it was a disadvantage to challenger players because Master tier players could still duo queue, so odds would be against them while playing against Master tier players who played together.
Challenger is all filled with ex and current pros and people in Challenger scene, so it’s not like most players there are in experienced against pro players.
Also your odds of meeting a five man squad are pretty low.
No idea why would they allow duoQ for challengers ... Another sign, that those who design the game, don't play it. Not to mention they've never neared the challenger elo.
So whats the queue restrictions for challenger? Just other challengers, or challenger+master? Guessing the latter, but it's not super clear.
I know TSM randomly got matchmade together once upon a time and it was an utter stomp where they were murdering the enemy team under their fountain, but having everything line up just right so they're together instead of facing one another is still quite improbable even with duo potential.

Don't think challenger players care about playing vs Pros unless they pros fill at least 3 spots and are on their main roles. Wouldnt give a fuck if i played vs DL on his Lee even as a diamond player lul.
Zven and mithy are EU and the other three are NA so its doubtful this would happen. Also thats just matchmaking, since they recently brought back the ability to spectate challenger/master games ive been watching some and I've seen a few games that were matched like this, for example one game red team had poebelter mid mike yeung jg and sneaky adc, i think they actually lost though it was a close game.
You have to realize that all these players who make it to challenger are very good both micro and macro.
Tbh i think it would feel worse being counterpicked as a challenger 1 trick on riven for example.
