I feel like extra tank comps beat out extra assassin comps nearly every time

...And that's a good thing.

IMO teamfights are what this game is all about. So naturally champions with kits that are useful in a teamfight should have higher winrates than assassins do because it means that Riot isn't overloading them with too much of the power they specialize in: snowballing out of control before teamfight phase happens.

When an assassin does his job it's just disappointing. If teamfights happen at all it's a stomp with one side simply having more champions than the other. Usually it just results in a boring slow siege that nobody attempts to break because everyone knows that the first person to step up will 100% get deleted, probably before his teammates can even close the gap.

If this is what some boards users call a "tank meta" then we should have "tank meta" all the time. Teamfights actually happen right now and they can still swing the game depending on how you play them. That's the League of Legends I want to play.

By "extra tank" I mean where the jungler picks tank or mid picks Galio and top doesn't pick an assassin or marksman but a juggernaut instead. Any comp where there's more than one full tank. By "extra assassin" I mean when mid or top picks an assassin, and the jungler does too.

Double assassin was never really a good comp to begin with since assassins are generally the worst team fighters.

More assassins comps can still win, it just requires the players on the assassin team to heavily outplay the tank comp mid/late game.

Like this game I had a few weeks ago https://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/3290431856/207295973?tab=overview

Zero chance for my team to play "front to back" since we had 3 Assassins and only a Sett to peel for our Caitlyn. Meanwhile the enemy team had Poppy/Ornn, GP who doesn't instantly die and Syndra with her AOE knock back. Their only sitting duck is Senna but just getting her was annoying too without getting CC chained by Poppy alone.

Though if my team made more mistakes (than we already did) stalling that game out for any longer we would have 100% lose.

Ideally, the answer would be an "extra marksman/battlemage" comp, not an extra assassin.

Tanks should be weak against heavy, sustained damage from afar.

The squishies that can do that sort of damage should be weak to getting bursted down by an assassin or burst mage.

The burst champions should have trouble dealing with the tanks that can survive their initial combo and continue to fight.

The problem with a potential "tank meta" is that Riot keeps taking power away from the marksman, skirmishers, and battlemages that are supposed to beat tanks. They either rework these champions into burst champions themselves, nerf them into oblivion so they aren't relevant, or make them so vulnerable to getting dived that they never get the chance to fight those tanks before they get blown up (usually by those tanks who are diving).

assassin comps are harder to execute because you have less hp and less range to work with. like it or not that's how the game works and why the boards whining for assassins to be nerfed will fall on my deaf ears unless i the assassin player see no feasible way to beat a particular assassin. we have pride in this space.

And extra adc comps beat everything that isn't an extra assassin comp, what's your point?
