Lucian's E changes patch 4.13

Ok, I understand Lucian needed a nerf, but I feel like this made him insanely hard to escape with. Yes he was very easy to escape with before, but now that they took out the 1 unique thing about his e on top of increasing its cooldown, the only good thing about it is that it applies his passive and costs no mana. His e range is 425. That's pretty pathetic for an ability with a cd of 18/17/16/15/14 second cooldown. Can you at least make it have increased range as you level it up, or just flat out increase the range?

It feels like a decent cooldown, but its range could be a little longer.

ya, that was my point. the cooldown wouldnt be a problem if the range werent so aweful.

Noooooo

Hard to escape with should NEVER be a reason for a buff. It creates slow and frustrating game play when a champion has an ability that they just get away with. Tristana's W for example: its not op, but it may as well be an escape. A flash over a wall, out of a fight, away from a gank, what ever. The point is, high mobility champions are strictly better than low mobility champions, and that was the biggest problem with lucian to begin with - a jungler comes in, ganks well, throws cc - and lucian presses E and gets away. nothing you can do, unless you can burst him faster than he can press E, or you happen to be mobile / ranged enough to get him anyway.

no, you misunderstand my meaning. i dont mean buff his e to like a 800 range or something like that. My point is, i think it should either be moderately longer at all ranks, or it should scale up in distance. Another thing i just thought of, is increase the range to 450-475 or so and give it a flat cooldown at all ranks, one thats good early game but gives risky gameplay late game. They could also always make it so his e passively gives him cc reduction, or reduces the duration upon activation, etc. Essentially, my point is that an extremely short range gap closer with a long cooldown that gives no other bonus effects is a bad ability. I understand why they nerfed it, but i think they went just a little far.

I am certain you didn't mean a complete escape - most people who are very pro mobility aren't looking for anything ridiculous; but consider something really quick - ANY level of escape can make a champion strictly better than a champion without an escape/move steroid.

My complaint is that older champions, fun ones, who were made before mobility creep, are almost a joke now. They can't catch champions who do have high mobility or get away.

As an example: I play top lane as a main. I love to play AD Sion. Normally, in late game I do amazing damage, and can use ghostblade/Zephyr/Ghost to avoid being kited. I can be 4 levels over a Lucian/Teemo/Quinn/Vayne, with considerably better items. I will be kited into the dirt.

I have been outrun on Singed / Hecarim / at one point even Rammus, cause he was really ahead (specifically Lucian here)

It's not that it's inherently broken either - look at Graves. The problem is when A high mobility champion has, well...HIGH mobility AND no reason to ever come near you. League is a game about deciding when to fight, strategy, etc. - champions like Lucian, especially the way he was, promote safe, defensive game play where the strategy is just not fight. Ok, thats fine, most adcs are like that....but good lord, you cannot catch him.

Basically, the LAST thing Riot needs to do, for ANY champion, is to specifically insure that they have an ability that grants an "escape" - If you dive and don't need a summoner spell, or are really pushed -> get ganked with no ward -> and can still get away fine, there is a SERIOUS problem there.

This is at least my opinion, you don't have to share it.

well, i just think his dash shouldn't have both a really short range and a really long cooldown. It needs something to compensate, I'm not asking for much.

Look at Graves' dash. And lucian's has a cooldown reduction

Lucian is trash now. The only reason he wasn't trash after his range was nerfed to a pathetic 500 was because his dash was very strong, now that it's nerfed there is literally no reason to ever play Lucian.

I disagree. Lucain is still strong, just not against EVERY match up. That is the goal. If it turns out Riot did over do it, they will buff him later (remember, this patch was intended to promote champion diversity in the world championship) - but honestly, he still has good mobility and burst. If that is still not enough for, I don't want there to ever be an champion that is.
