Frozen Mallet vs Zephyr

So let me get this straight.

A couple of champions abuse Frozen Mallet, mainly because of their toxic kit (not really the items fault), and they nerf it.

No one abuses Zephyr, so they completely delete it. And why? Out of some weird obsession with making sure tenacity is regulated only to boots, because Riot hates the idea of counter building against CC.

Its unreal. Zephy was my favorite Aatrox item. Gone. Mallet was giving me 10 game win streaks in a row---nerfed.

And its not just 10 AD. Is the build path. Before I could have 40 AD with the pickaxe and the fist, prior to completing mallet. Now you get 15 AD and the other 15 only after the while item is finished.

I don't think Riot undertsand's Riot, so that's why we don't either.

I think its obvious that the company has too many chiefs and egos and not enough people following the direction of a clear cohesive vision for the game

they removed zephyr because nobody built it and there was basically no time you'd ever want it over other items

I loved having it on Irelia and Udyr.

Exactly, and it wasn't toxic or being abused. So, removed. Meanwhile, Yas is still not completely deleted from the game.

Then why Ohmwrecker and Wits End were allowed to remain?

You have a point about Ohmwrecker, but Wits End is still built, ... not often, but it does still happen.

wits end still has a niche with irelia, kogmaw, warwick, kayle and maybe shen

ohmwrecker honestly just sucks and they'll either rework or remove it

I built it on most tanks so I could take ninja tabi and still have tenacity, which was quite handy against full physical teams, which are still rather prevalent. Meanwhile ohmwrecker hasn't been picked for years but hasn't been deleted.

Zephyr Stats +50% attack speed +25 attack damage +10% movement speed +10% cooldown reduction Passive Unique – Tenacity: Reduces the duration of all crowd control effects by 35%, except for Suppression icon Suppression, Stasis icon Stasis and Airborne icon Airborne effects such as Knockbacks, Knockups and Pulls. Stinger + Pickaxe + 725 gold = 2850 total gold.

Plus item 3087

Combined stats +85% attack speed +25 attack damage +30% critical strike chance +15% movement speed +10% cooldown reduction

and passives that synergize incredibly well with the ridiculous amount of movement speed that you now have, ... I don't really feel like typing those out again.

2850 + 2600 = 5450 gold

I think that there is a lot that goes on at Riot HQ, and just because a change seems pointless doesn't mean it actually is. I think people need to stop pretending they know how to run a company with millions upon millions of players all over the world, better than the company that has actually done it for over 6 years now.

Marc Merrill spells it out. They like to spread out the decision making. This is terrible for any cohesive underlying game theory that ties everything to together.

Also, the keep it unbalanced on purpose to drive sales. I would rather pay $5 a month to play and have them not make stupid changes to spur activity that produces revenue for them. Because of this, the game lacks artistic integrity.

I loved zeyphr too. Wish it was kept. Who knows rito might add it back in the assassin update.

Pff. I have no faith in Riot anymore. Its all about whatever change will drive sales. Just make us pay $5 a month to play and keep the game actually balanced instead of tweaking it to force activity that produces purchasing of RP.

The changes they made to these items would have made Zephyr broken.

Ah so they remove a relatively tame item so that they can have 4 crazy items that too tons of stuff with extra magic damage and stuff.

Seems about right.

Those Crit items are the BANE of this game.... all of them troll ascending in the order you put them... I mean who the hell still builds stattik when u can have some range or better yet criting AoE bolts or worse yet u can chase someone down like no tomorrow WHILE taking reduced damage.... RIOTF IS TROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL they had no diea what they were doing with season 6 and i will admit its like the most unfun season i have ever played...

Mainly off meta picks and it sometimes gets picked up in situationals. I didn't say it was a good pick-up item, but it does get picked up.
