Can we have a "I'm Drunk Queue/Option"?

CurS1VE··3 votes·1,604 views

I know this may sound a silly but for all of us 21+ who maybe get a lil tipsy or A LOT tipsy and play league I think it is actually beneficial to the game overall because to be honest it would mean i'm playing with other ppl who are messed up and older but also it means a fairly polarizing experience to the adult players who maybe queue to relax.

You may read this and be like "that's some dumb stuff" but here's the thing, you know how many drunk ppl queue up for games? ME NEITHER!! but i'm sure there are a lot! considering how big the player base is!

Well all i'm saying is hey! I drink, prolly should've stopped after that stint in rehab ok ok ok! BUT (big BUT) how about we say to the players who are in this 21+ demograph who happen to queue up impaired, "Hey are you a little twisted ATM" and put em (AKA US) in a different queue

I'm almost 100% sure ppl will this this is a stupid idea but you know what ? I know for a FACT that I am significantly worse when i'm impaired and YES I am well over the legal drinking age but if I want to play league when I been drinking I have a pretty big risk I take like for one I am way way way more vocal and that goes for anyone who has been drinking.

OBV I don't have all the details to what I'm trying to talk about because I'M DRUNK! But it just makes me thinks considering I'm about to queue for a game and even though I am already better than prolly 90% of players at my Elo ( I can't beat ppl smurfing obv) I would say I prolly could still beat 80% of players at my Elo while I'm intoxicated,

Having said that, personally speaking I don't think that's a good thing overall. Really what I'm looking for or getting at is maybe some sort of buffer for us folks who aren't young guns. I know that sounds ridiculous to some but it's actually not quite as crazy as you may think and overall it could improve the game especially around certain hours or days.

Anyways my name is Curs1ve and I am currently intoxicated! And chances are if you are in Silver Elo I'm much much much better than you BUT i'm often times too drunk or tired to play ranked!

the basis here is players could in theory have the ability to flag their accounts and put self imposed limitations/restrictions on it which (just so we are clear) are pretty strong limitations but at the same time it would help protect players and games regardless. If i wanted to do a self-imposed "drunk queue" which would also result in maybe limited chat function, longer queue times (tries to match with others intoxicated), less LP (if ranked) but also resulting in the very real scenario where i protect myself and others from being subjected to whatever drunken babble or plays i do then honestly i think it's a solid start and can be built on from there. It's about giving the OPTION which is the most important part i'm after

Easy there, it's too early in the day to be a hypocrite

CurS1VE1 votes

so you are saying you are intoxicated?

how in the world could i be a hypocrite when I don't know that?

CurS1VE1 votes

OK so when you are intoxicated and you drink on a adult level you are essentially a functional alcoholic which comes with a lot of little stipulations to it and the biggest 1 is essentially (and this is key) that you still try and do things as if you were sober! BUT the funny story is that when people drink in large quantities even though when someone may ask "are you drunk" they (the drunk person) says NO; they "drunk folks" actually are MORE honest when the computer asks them questions!

Thats just a Psychology thing right there (ex-Psychology Major) so although a peer-to-peer exchange results in 1 answer, a computer to human exchange results in another (more honest) answer.

The TLDR is when a person is intoxicated and a computer puts up some button that asks "are you currently kinda fucked up?" with a yes/no button, the drunk is actually more inclined to hit yes!

99% of people using this queue would be trolls.

uhh but would 100% of them be drunk or impaired

I don't think you sober folks FULLY understand

You can troll when youre sober aswell. And what would stop a drunk person from playing ranked?

CurS1VE1 votes

lol how does a sober person troll a drunk person?!!?!

WHAT!

And the point of the button is to help put more drunk / intoxicated ppl regardless of if it's norm or ranked into the same pool / game

when i say "put a button up that asks if you are intoxicated" i'm literally saying this for all games the player would play

sounds a bit much? OR it could be a Quality of Life improvement

lol how does a sober person troll a drunk person?!!?!

The same way you would troll a sober player. Just because youre drunk doesnt necessarly mean you dont give a shit about the game. Players's behaviour in that state can be anything from "im chill af" to "I want to slit this trash's throat", and trolls will greately profit from trolling the the latter spectrum of drunk players.

And the point of the button is to help put more drunk / intoxicated ppl regardless of if it's norm or ranked into the same pool / game

And again, why do you think a drunk person will choose to play with other drunk players? And as some1 whos drinking whenever I have nothing to do the day after, I wouldnt opt to play with players who, for all we know, might pretend to be drunk just so they can fuck with people however they can. I dont like it when im sober, I dont like it when I'm drunk.

when i say "put a button up that asks if you are intoxicated" i'm literally saying this for all games the player would play

Even worse. Imagine playing ranked with people who can be either a kid pretending to be drunk to waste my time and LP or some1 whos about tp ass out from 2 much booze. Sry but thats a hard pass from me chief.

sounds a bit much? OR it could be a Quality of Life improvement

Yea it is. Your expectations are 2 high. In reality, drunk players will give 0 fucks about your idea and those who do will use it to troll people. Troll some1 whos toxic af when drunk and you got the recipe for a disaster.

i hate when ppl do these sort of responses where they cherry pick quotes.

This is what i'll say generally, if you are intoxicated and essentially playing while drunk, you don't actually have a grasp of what is actually going on, not just in league but around you as well, that's literally what alcohol does to do. Or anything that is impairing your vision / thoughts, I would say flat out if someone is drunk they will play the game at a level much much much lower to what they are capable of sober the difference is with my suggestion the players in the game would actually know that everyone else is in some way intoxicated.

For a kid this seems silly but when you are a Adult and you drink 7 days a week and it's just a meh sorta thing even when you are use to drinking you are still drunk and that's just chemistry right there. I maybe a great Drunk, ppl who see me prolly never know i'm wasted until i've already had too much but that's not really the point here. The point i'm making is for 1 giving adults a mode where its ok if they aren't fully all there in the game and it'll be a lil more forgiving but if it were ranked it would be a dramatically less amount of LP and also there would be certain restrictions on chat for example to protect the player from themselves

a good example is the limited chat restriction that is already in place for the disciplinary system

i would say if someone queues as "I'm intoxicated" they would have limited chat functions to protect them from themselves

also the game would obv try and match make as many of them together as they can and if it were ranked it would be significantly less XP gain as well as Loss as well as ppl who get placed in the game who didn't hit Yes to intoxicated (maybe they got 'autofilled' into the game)

The improvements far outweigh the cons considering there are a lot of players right now queueing up and (much like myself) are intoxicated, and playing pretty poorly but they are intoxicated so it's not like they actually understand. This cause all sorts of problems, talking about toxicity because of underperformance which is the biggest one but also it gives just a really bad experience to the other players in the game cause it can mean essentially it's a 4 v 5 (or however many)

this isn't really something that can be glossed over especially as the game gets older and more players become of legal age to drink. I mean if anything this is to protect all players (drunk and sober) and to help all have a experience that is positive

I know you chukkles have a hard time thinking for yourself and have a horrid time with change but League is 10 years old, that means quite frankly there are probably millions of players every day (not just me and a few of my friends) who are intoxicated and probably ruining the games for others who aren't.

I don't really care about the hypothetical "sober ppl will troll" because like i said before, a drunk person cannot recognize when they are being trolled. Not in the same context anyways and if someone really is of age to drink and they want to waste their time for whatever reason then that's up to them obv but as for the folks who are legit intoxicated this is who is the concern for me and it will become a bigger and bigger issue the older players get.

Why not start now? start figuring out a way to protect all the players? lets give players who are intoxicated a setting where they have limitations that protect them from themselves as well as other players while also protection for the players who maybe are sober in the game, which is a valid concern for sure if it's ranked.

Sorry but what improvements are you even talking about? You literally are saying a whole bunch of nonesense with literally zero ways of backing up anything you are saying. If you are so drunk that you are barely able to function what makes you think that those people would even say "yes I am intoxicated". Also kids and teens play this game. Why would you ever show that message to those types of players. That sort of queue would literally be filled with trolls and people looking for easy wins. People who are drunk also behave completely different from each other since not everyone drinks till they are puking and to the brink of passing out.

Please tell me where you are getting any of this information. Because I have met several drunk people in my life and most of them behave completely different from each other. They aren't stupid. They know when people are messing with them. You literally are achieving nothing at all. Tell me and answer me this one simple question instead of spewing nonesense after nonesense. WHY WOULD A DRUNK PERSON WILLINGLY AND KNOWINGLY SAY THAT THEY ARE INTOXICATED? why would they? Specially since according to you they cannot tell when someone is trolling them? Hell a lot of drunk people just flat out refuse to admit that they are drunk or think It's just a light buzz rather than actual being drunk off their ass. Also very few people even drink to the lvl that you are even insinuating.

When all a "drunk" person has to do is say "no I am not intoxicated" to not get matched with other "drunk" people then your entire system fails. You are literally hoping to God that these "drunk" people are actually willingly admitting that they are drunk and hoping to God that nobody is abusing the easily as hell a bubble system you implemented.

CurS1VE1 votes

you make it sound like a person being intoxicated is somehow breaking the law lol they are at home and most likely a person who has been drinking has no problem admitting it to a random computer box lol

it's not like it's the police trying pulling someone over and trying to get them to breathe into a breatholizer

the biggest flaw with your text is that you make it seem like being drunk is against the law and nobody would ever say they are intoxicated. This is wrong, see ppl actually tell the truth more when they are intoxicated and the only time when that doesn't hold true is when there is some sort of penalty that they may face for example police and getting pulled over

It's about giving a player the option! it's not about saying "Hey Every Person intoxicated MUST play this mode" NO that is ridiculous, it's about saying to the player "Hey if you like to drink and play League there is this option available to you that has certain perimeters in place that will limit your chances to be banned but also to impact a game negatively"

it's all about the player having the right to choose if they want to hit yes or not! I am not in any way shape or form saying that every person who has ever had a sip of alcohol or has been intoxicated ever should or would hit yes to anything BUT I am saying having experienced what can happen and having seen and spoke with others who have had similar experiences; that the idea of giving players who do frequently drink and letting THEM decide if they want to put some restrictions on themselves to protect their accounts possibly is a good idea.

There is literally no down side to this and just because you don't agree doesn't make it a bad idea.

I am for giving ppl a choice to say "Hey I drink and play league and i'd like to make sure i don't do anything too silly that could possibly compromise my account in the future"

Just because you guys haven't experienced what I have doesn't make your opinion "more right". What's wrong with giving players the option to opt into this? I mean that's what i am talking about, it's all about the option.

This is real talk now, you guys probably haven't actually experienced first hand what I'm actually talking; thats actually a good thing. See alcoholism is a very real thing and it's probably the most socially acceptable addiction in the world (depending on where you live anyways). What I'm talking about is just a option that each player is free to hit yes or no to, there isn't some sweeping statement here just fyi, players can or cant and i think if a person has invested in their account and paid for a lot of skins or whatever they are more inclined to be objective and say yes, whereas a person who just made the account and doesn't care at all would do whatever they want. The rewards / penalties are what make it work tho, i mean if you actually opt into it and you aren't actually then you are probably looking at a dramatically higher Queue time just for the chance to possibly troll drunk ppl. and like you said already, there may or not be many ppl who would opt into it, so just imagine a 10 min queue for someone who is completely sober. Would they actually sit in queue just for the chance to troll? I mean i suppose it's possible but when you are intoxicated Time isn't really a big deal, i'd say if there were a 20min queue you would still see ppl who are legit intoxicated in it whereas the person sober would've already bailed just 1 example

i already spoke about the possible chat restrictions that could be self imposed and maybe even the limitations of how many times a player can Q within a time.

I think maybe you all are misunderstand the point here. Its not to give drunk folks some playground game just so we are clear, it's to help protect the game and accounts for all players and that's what i'm looking at.

Right now there are only 2 options Queue up or Don't there are no limitations or stipulations at all! and what if you do queue up and maybe you say the wrong thing or maybe say the wrong thing in a few different games, things you wouldn't ever say sober. I know some folks would say that the person deserved whatever punishment they received but I actually disagree; a person who has been drinking has a pretty dramatic decrease in logic / rational thinking and a extremely high increase in emotional feeling; that means the player is more likely to tilt and will tilt more easily as well as for longer periods

that can have a pretty negative impact to the game currently, not just for the player who is intoxicated but for all the players who queue and happen to get put in the game with that player.

I am speaking about doing an option that can help even if it's only a small % it's still better then the absolute choice what we have now

you don't understand lol

so if you are drunk you wouldn't really actually understand when a person is trolling or not. You could be sober and decide to pop in and pull off some BS but honestly lol all you would be doing is wasting your own time since the ppl who hit 'Yes' to "i'm intoxicated" are essentially handicapping thereselves but still trying to play .

You can go in and do things sober and try and troll drunk ppl if you want but honestly (as someone who has been drinking for awhile) they prolly won't get it. I'm sure it'll crack you up though considering you are like 16 or whatever

sure riot could add in some sort of age thing or whatever but honestly if a lil kid thinks that a drunk MAN / Adult actually understands when they are trolling then just wowo wowow, I would love to see all this playout on stream cause i don't think it'd end the way the lil kid would think

you wouldn't be "outsmarting" the drunk ppl you would however be playing down to the drunk ppl which is essentially on par with playing in the special olympics so i mean hey if that's really what rox you then go for it lol I would actually laugh at a player who would stoop that low for what exactly? the plays aren't the same, the players aren't the same, idk what ppl would get out of it tbh and maybe they would think it's funny the first 2-3 times but honestly i don't think many sober children would play this mode because honestly it's not that fun beating up on punching bags right? the mode itself would only be a stipulation / measure for folks who ARE drunk, the playability decreases pretty dramatically over time with sober folks tbh because flat out if you thought / think beating up on drunk folks was fun then you would be ok with playing Bots frequently because essentially thats what you would be getting or honestly maybe even less then bots so yeah I would welcome all the lil 16 and below kids who want to beat up on the drunk folk lol and honestly it's a good educational tool as well since you would see how shit those players are

If you wanna have this in ranked then yea I would gladly beat drunken peeps down for that sweet elo. Sorry not sorry :D (until Karma bites me in the ass and get drunken players on my team and sober ones on the enemy) Their own choice to get drunk and potentially cripple themselves to the point where they aint in condition to play, let alone play ranked. Not my prob.

umm i'm 36 lol i'm a grown man and i have had stints in rehab and AA which isn't something i'm bragging about but more so i'm trying to express the very real notion that ppl who are intoxicated can and will ruin games and really there are already so many variables that ruin games so why would you want a drunk person in your game?

being 21 and drinking isn't the same as being a functional drunk, i would actually say it's not something i am trying to brag about but for some reason you are? Technically speaking I have been a Drunk longer than you have been able to do most things in life.

You wouldn't even know someone is intoxicated unless they literally said it lol so you could be playing with intoxicated players all the time (and prolly are tbh) and you don't even know.

I've been banned for drunk talk and many of my friends have as well; a few of them even say that if they didn't drink they wouldn't have so many league accounts.

I don't think you actually understand what I'm saying because you are looking at it from a pessimistic pov. When i was 21 i thought i was such a great hot shot too and that's just bravado, literally every kid has that so i would just say you should really ask the question you don't understand rather than dismissing what you don't understand

There really should be such a queue. Feeding, trolling teammates announcing that they are drunk or high should be reported. Playing incapacitated isn't better than being afk. (If you can carry while you're drunk then I probably won't care, but my observation is that the ones who announce their condition, generally don't do well at all.)
