A general question about the Summoner Spell order on Botlane

Why is it that people generally pick Heal on ADC and Exhaust on Support?

Recently I've made the experience that Supports who use Windspeaker's blessing are better off taking Heal instead of their ADC, and I think it's an even better order that way because your ADC can decide for themself when to exhaust the enemy ADC (and as such when to engage I.E.). Roaming Supports can save dying lanes and ADCs that farm solo for a while can easily outtrade assassins and other ADCs if they're strong enough and have Exhaust available.

Am I missing out on something? I can't get behind why the Summoners are used in this order and would like to hear your opinions about it! summoner 7 summoner 3

i'm a support main and i usually take exhaust because of the damage reduction along with the slow, this way we can engage, target the support and exhaust the adc so that they do 40% less damage and then it's a 2 v 1 since they won't be able to help their teammate

it's also just really nice to use on the jungle as an escape or to catch out an enemy which heal doesn't provide

It's mostly preference. You can switch it up, but it's better because if the ADC is 1v1ing and needs that extra boost (or 2v1ing) heal is really needed. Exhaust can help with that too - but... Dunno. I just feel it's better equipped for an ADC.

I convinced my friend to take cleanse on the adc and I will take heal if the enemy team has a lot of cc. I do agree on windspeakers supports work with heal a little better but until we see it in the lcs lol

Adc needs to be able to save his own ass from time to time since he can't ALWAYS be with his support, so he takes heal.

Support already brings a lot of sticking power and peal, so exhaust complement this.

The support is prone to roaming much more than adcs, and exhaust(/ignite) is much more useful in making plays. (Roaming at just the right time where heal saves a lane that'd be about to die is far less practical than roaming whenever and potentially producing a kill. Exhaust is likely to be able to save a dying lane in the event you do reach the lane in that situation anyway.)

Heal effects two people (and gives movespeed). Heal on support means that the support getting healed/movespeed is almost always going to be relatively wasted compared to the adc potentially being able to use it for both themselves and another carry during a teamfight. (The adc will occasionally also want to use heal for movespeed to chase down a kill, which is not something even good supports are necessarily going to recognize.)

Exhaust is single target, and you need to pick the target. Sometimes the target is completely obvious and one can reflexively exhaust the right target, but sometimes that target is out of range, or there are multiple threats and the extra split second figuring out the most dire threat can be costly. Heal by contrast you can immediately cast, and if adc has it it'll always hit the right target. Support has a chance of accidentally healing themselves and another non-adc champ.
