A forgotten item I have never seen a single time in my whole time of playing League of Legends

item 3056 I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to make out of this item. It has okayish stats, but an entirely underrated active effect. Nobody uses this, but at some point Riot apparently decided that this item is far too dangerous if you could stack the turret disable, so they gave turrets an 8 second protection against spam.

Will this item ever see a rework? I think it's one of those nice items you can build as a support to bring in diversity and more opportunities for your team, but it's active effect is barely meaningful in the everyday League matches nowadays. In the early game it could be useful, but who has the gold to go out of their way and rush this of all items? And only to turret dive somebody? Considering that if you rush this item, you probably won't deal too much damage; so it's nearly pointless or wasted effort to buy this early on. You won't towerdive anyone with this as your first item anyway with most champions. Then in the later game when you can afford it, your team kills turrets in 3 seconds or they simply don't deal any damage to one of your tanks, making Ohmwrecker obsolete yet again. (At least from my experience.)

This item is older than dinosaurs and never sees meaningful changes, so I want to raise awareness for Riot.

item 3632 <- what is this?

agbudar9/5/2016, 7:00:43 AM21 votes

it should apply to our own turrets instead but make them untargetable and call it ohm's protection instead.

Every so often, there will be a bit in the patch notes that explicitly states something like "Yep, this still exists."

You see... this item's viability depends on the state of turrets. If turrets are ridiculously strong to the point where their damage can smash you while diving, this item would see more gameplay. Unfortunately, turrets right now are a joke. The mid to late game is where this item shines but who needs it when you can have either a tank endure all of the turret aggro for dives or an ap lulu/karma who can shield you for 500 dmg on a <6 second cooldown.

Two factors play role here, it has team beneficial feature and it provides tanky stats. Tanks would rather tank turrets and gain another self beneficial item of the similar stats. Non tanky supprots would prefer items which boost better their utility. Maybe if it was AP based item, combined with the turret disabling effect, AP supports would find it more useful as it will offer them the option to turret dive.

Tfw you know from the title of the post it's gonna be Ohmwrecker

I think it's pretty useful. Like a lot of things, it could work in quite.. uh.. specific situations. How I saw it was, if we already got into the base, but the team-fights aren't a sure thing, and it's only a few moments until they're back up to start harassing, then the ohmwrecker could be valuable to go with the team to quickly take down one of the other base towers (when they're no creeps to backup the team). It's very specific, but to me if it's a sort of situation, where I can get the idea that the ability may turn out to be useful, I'll buy ohmwrecker. It gives decent stats, too and it's about as valuable as any other hp / armor item. So I put it on my attackers who get some defensive bonus and HP, and have a useful albeit specific ability then. It really can help for making it possible to take towers.

The only problem is getting people to wake up and recognise that the ability is there. That's the hardest thing, since even when I would say, "I have ohmwrecker, we can take their 2nd base tower while they're down and don't need creeps", people would not remove themselves from the narrow track to follow the exact same pattern they have made in LoL for almost countless matches before: wait for creeps, don't touch tower without creeps, when creeps arrive take down tower. People won't move themselves to think on their feet, so that to me is the biggest problem - while the items in LoL are actually really cool and could find lots of use, if only people were more willing to think.

We lost a match, yet I cannot help but think, if my teammates who were in base busy trying to harrass the spawning opponents and get cs.. had only walked their champs over to the other base tower ... like maybe 2 since we were all quite high level .. we would have taken down their 2nd base tower (in bot lane) even while our bot lane creeps were alll the way back at our base and fighting the opponent creep wave. So we could have gotten our super minions starting to spawn in the 2nd lane .. even without having to run aaalll the way back to base to push with the creeps. Who knows, we could have won from that 2nd wave of super minions

To me it shows how bad we can shoot ourselves in the foot, if we just refuse to think, and if we will only ever permit ourselves to unthinkingly follow some formula that somebody else invented.

In 4 years of league, I've probably seen it once, but never witnessed the active effect.

Riot has stated multiple times that no matter how hard they try to make this item seem viable it never hits the mark.

Marshbouy9/5/2016, 12:49:14 PM2 votes

I saw it yesterday when i made a lee sin troll from rage.

I'm pretty surprised this item still exists despite being never used, seeing how Riot removes some lesser known items from time to time, like Sword of the Divine, Zephyr (dunno why they removed this one, it had it's niche), Executioner's Calling in preseason 5 (and now it's back.... just to be forgotten again)...

Garbarkozaurus9/5/2016, 4:09:44 PM2 votes

Personally, I LOVE to build ohmwrecker, especially when I'm ahead. It is very helpful at closing out games and gives you some very nice stats (especially when you are playing a champion like Gragas).

But it's still so forgotten, that it doesn't even have the cooldown ping.item 3070

Poske9/5/2016, 6:17:57 PM2 votes

Underrated?

YOU SERIOUS?

MonkeyMadness9/5/2016, 8:46:48 PM2 votes

I remember when this item was added in season 3. Not THAT old lol.

But seriously though, for this item to be worth the gold, turrets would actually have to pose a threat. Since they obviously don't, what's the point in disabling them?

Frius9/5/2016, 9:06:03 PM2 votes

why would you use that shit if you can straight up dive with and armor item and get away?? useless item

WrathfulDoom9/5/2016, 11:52:00 PM2 votes

I love me some ohmwrecker. as a support main I find it is very wonderful. Nobody knows what it does half the time, and the path build is same as ZZrot, nearly.

The armor is nice and the active is handy when you are breaking a siege.

XIII Vanitas9/6/2016, 2:39:39 AM2 votes

They should turn item 3069 into item 3056, changing its active so that it could be used both offensively and defensively (disable enemy tower/shield or make allied tower briefly immune to damage). This way we would have a poke/pick dedicated support item item 3092, a teamfight dedicated support item item 3401, and a siege dedicated support item. Also, mobility creep is annoying and current Talisman active is toxic for the game.

Wyrmblade9/6/2016, 4:34:49 AM2 votes

If you need Ohmrecker to turret dive then you shouldn't be turret diving.

Limrick9/6/2016, 4:51:07 AM2 votes

Towers are so weak you literally don't need the active. Even an ADC can tank turret aggro long enough to slaughter someone.

Nogger Iskrem9/6/2016, 11:31:35 AM2 votes

poor ohmwrecker/masked gamer, he worked hard to get that item into the game

Maximum Morde9/6/2016, 12:59:16 PM1 votes

It's for Taric. Ohm wrecker plus outrageous ult = tower dives for days. Now, when your winrate shoots up to 80% with Taric and Rito has to nerf him, don't blame me.

It is not actually THAT old. I have been playing for four years now and it has only been around for about 3 years. Which to be fair, is an exceptionally long time considering how little play it sees. I will almost always build it on utility supports like Janna or Lulu. I thought for sure it would have went the way of Sword of the Divine(not the Sword of Occult), they reworked SotD from some random attack speed item that gave a little(100) magic damage every 4 attacks into a devastating Crit based item. After its rework it gave 45% attack speed(not bad), Had a passive that said "this item does grant attack speed while on cooldown. Champions kills reduce the current cooldown by 50%"(alright); and an active the read "Gain 100% attack speed and 100% critical chance for 3 seconds or 3 critical strikes. 60 second cooldown". While that does not sound THAT awesome, think about it this way: most marksmen build at least 2 attack speed/crit chance items. You could cut that down to just this one, and buy extra damage instead of worrying about getting close to 100% crit chance. I used to build this on every marksman game I played. Once, when I 3 shot a tank, my friends immediately started building it as well. But it got removed due to low playrayte. I do not know when it is coming, but I am sure it is; Ohmwrecker will get removed, or completely reworked at best.

Fun fact though: it disables both nexus towers at once if you stand between them. Making that last push a lot easier.

For a moment, I thought this was going to be about item 3800

Wonko The Sane9/5/2016, 5:47:57 PM1 votes

item 3800 When this first came out. you bought at least one every single game, often 2. Shit was broken. Now I see one maybe every 50th game.

Mystic Delibird9/6/2016, 12:40:30 AM1 votes

I buy it on Nautilus when I want my cc to extend even to the turrets.

You can never have enough cc

The Loveless9/6/2016, 12:45:18 AM1 votes

Let's face it, people are too cowardly to try strategic tower diving. They only do it and burn flash(es) to avoid the tower killing them.

Rintam9/6/2016, 1:43:32 AM1 votes

I build it on Shyvana, and whenever I want to dive someone with the active, my team kind of stares transfixed at the glowing tower. Ooo, shiny.
