ARAM needs some love Riot. It's been awhile.

Before I get discredited, I've played LoL since 2013, and I have well for 2,000 aram games.

I've seen aram comps that are evenly matched, and I've seen comps that are completely one sided. I've seen a 5 minute aram game, and I've been in a 75 minute aram game.

Unfortunately at this time, ARAM seems to be weak regarding objectives. As of right now, there are 4 towers and 1 inhibitor in order to open the Nexus. This wasn't an issue a few years ago, ARAM seemed like taking objectives required strategy, precise timing and overall. Skill.

With the continuous changes to how towers work, taking more damage, dealing less damage, ap now scaling really well against towers now. This being the fact that most people who play aram love to reroll until they get their favorite mage, and the team with the fewer rerolls gets fewer poke mages. Towers seem to be utterly useless in the world of ARAM, because a full team of mages can engage under tower and come out without a single death.

In Rift, you can clearly tell how towers can be major objectives, having to pull resources from areas of the map, shove lanes 10+ times to deal small amounts of health to the tower over a period of time and tower dives RARELY are successful.

In ARAM, an ace at 5 minutes means you can take two towers. Thats 40% of the objectives, 60% if you include the wide open inhibitor. We all know when you break the inhibitor, that the lane is won no matter how team fights go, its hard to come back from a pushed lane when the enemy team now has the gold advantage as well.

Riot, I know it pulls resources away from your priorities into balancing and creating a fun time in 5v5 rifts, but aram does need a few developers looking to keep aram exciting, just as much as rift is. The games are too short and too one sided at the moment, and is creative friction in the communities. It would be difficult to find one game where the struggling aram system isnt causing one more more players to be dissatisfied and ending their day on League of Legends.

We would really appreciate some ARAM love, be it a tower BUFF, increase in objectives, or team balancing.

I think it would be good to make turrets tankier in ARAM and split them from SR turrets entirely so they don't get changed whenever SR towers are changed.

It's not just poke mages. A lot of the strongest champs in ARAM are good at pushing turrets.

I think it would be helpful to have some kind of mechanic on the map that is essential for pushing so it doesn't come down to team comp. The unfortunate thing about ARAM is that there aren't many ways to approach it strategically. If your team comp is worse at pushing it's very hard to win. A team can win purely by siege even if they don't get a lot of kills or interact with the enemy team much.

I would do something like this:

  • ARAM turrets have 25% damage reduction.
  • ARAM turrets have passive regeneration with a cap that starts at 90% max hp. The turret will passively regen up to this cap.
  • Enemy champions drop Destruction Shards when they die. If you pick up a shard it instantly activates to reduce the regen cap of all currently exposed turrets. The first shard reduces the regen cap by 15% of turret's max hp, and each subsequent shard reduces it by 5%. When a turret is destroyed this is reset to 15%.
  • Every 3rd siege minion is enhanced. It has 300% bonus HP. Its first attack against the turret reduces the regen cap by 10% max hp. Every subsequent attack reduces it by 1% of max hp. The turret's 25% damage reduction is disabled while the enhanced siege minion is alive.

So doing lasting damage requires you to either kill champions or win contests over the enhanced siege minion objectives.

While I agree that ARAM (and TT while we're at it) could use some updates and the Shard idea is interesting, I'm concerned about making things too complicated. ARAM isn't like the other permanent game modes in that there (currently) is no explicit "serious" and "casual" queue. Everyone has to share the singular queue, and some people just want a simple, straight-forward experience.

Maybe give the towers defense bonuses for the first 4 or 6 minutes to prevent tower rushing before level 6?

It always bothered the living shit out of me when towers could be taken before either team hit 6 when teamfights and ultimates could make all the difference.

I also don't see a big problem in ARAM matches lasting longer since people like to play 'for fun' builds outside of what is normally built in summoner's rift. It's not like players deliberately lengthen games by BMing at fountain anyway.

wait for another winter skin sale. Only then in that 1-2 weeks riot actually remembers that they have ARAM.
