The Problem with Nasus

is that he's extremely tank yet his everlasting ult is described by Riot themselves as an ability that "Makes Nasus stronger than most champions on League."

Not to mention riot's tips into countering him are "Don't engage him if he's at full health". Yeah, I don't think that's what counter-play is, but I could be wrong.

To beat Nasus late game, you need no less than 3 players catching him out all at once. One of those 3 is probably going to die and you have to kill him before any of his allies show up.

Nasus is actually a pretty weak champion in the grand scheme of things.

His biggest weaknesses are kiting, disengage, and duelists.

Whilst it's true that he can be quite menacing when he's ahead, he lacks the tools to handle multiple champions at a time, long ranged champions, champions who can kite him, or champions who can beat him in a straight up fight.

To be quite honest, in a vacuum, more than half of League's roster has a positive matchup against Nasus in a teamfight. And most of the rest of the roster has the wave-clear to prevent his splitpushing, or they are capable of dueling him.

The classic Ryliandry's setup works very nicely to whittle him down on AP champions, marksman/ AD champions can take BotRK, Black Cleaver, Ghostblade, Mercurial Scimitar, etc. to dampen his effectiveness, and tanks have the option to run Thornmail (which will significantly reduce his damage output from his Q, and also ruins his sustain and healing from his passive, as Nasus does not tend to buy Penetration, meaning Thornmail will actually damage him a significant amount when compared to the way ADCs merely lifesteal through it later in the game), and Spirit Visage.

If Nasus does not have immediate kill pressure on you, consider guerilla warfare, where you attack him, trade some, and then get away before he can critically damage you. This will force him to back off or risk overextending and getting killed.

The only reason Nasus' kit is acceptable is because he isn't that popular. Nasus is a champ that can never be allowed to be meta at high levels of play.

well clearly he doesn't work in both high and low elo so they should just rework him?

Any acceptable Nasus rework would pretty much make the champion unrecognizable since both Q and W would need to go. And while Nasus is bad, I don't think he's old Sion levels of bad in the "needs a rework" department.

The counter play for Nasus is the counter play for Tryndamere:

Beat him before he beats you.

Nasus isn't a problem mid game. He's easily kitable. It's his mid game that's a problem when the ADC doesn't have the damage to deal with him. To beat Nasus you simply out pressure him. While he stacks you have to be more useful and help your team get ahead. This is really hard to do with the new lane pressure nasus playstyle but it is still possible.

Just take Kled into Nasus. Every time he goes in to add another Q stack, slap your bear trap on him and attack like the homicidal maniac you are! Even if your W isn't up, attack! He can't get you back off him between the Q pull and your E dash. Even at lvl 1, you'll be able to rip off about half his health without anything he can really do about it.

The only problem with Nasus is how anti-fun the whole AP Nasus build makes things. Note - I'm not saying it's overpowered but rather just kills any type of lane interactivity.
