Dear Riot
The 5v5 map known as "Summoners Rift" is not the only one in league of legends. While they may not be as popular, Howling Abyss, The Crystal Scar, and Twisted Treeline are all still here. ARAM is a great place to mess around with friends, but Dominion and 3v3's have fallen out of favor. For Dominion, queue times are long enough to be a deterrent. For 3v3's, not only are fair matches rare, ranked teams often get put up against each other several times in a row due to a small playerbase. Dominion and normal 3v3's are both teeming with bots. Basically, they need some attention brought to them.
Now, what would the point of this be if I offered no possible solutions?
- Allow us to gain champion mastery in 3v3's and Dominion. It doesn't make much sense that we can't, since playing a champion builds skills on that champion, regardless of the map.
- Fix the HUD for other maps. The nexus HP bar in Dominion is too large, and the tab menu in 3v3's has two unnecessary champion slots.
- Give The Crystal Scar a VU. Seriously, that thing is ugly, especially when compared to the updated Rift.
- A ranked ladder for Dominion. I understand not putting a solo queqe option for 3v3's, since teams are smaller, but this is not an issue for Dominion. The ability to transfer their hours of Dominion games into rank would encourage more players to use it.
- Reinstate some removed mechanics to these maps. You already have the Soul Anchor trinket, which is pretty much summoner revive, so it is not out of the question to do this with other spells.
- Put some competitive play on these maps. Even if they are just show matches, seeing how Faker would make special use of storm shields and how Bjergsen would peel the entire enemy team off of himself using the Vilemaw webs would drum up some play.
- Do some changes to the mechanics of these gamemodes! Make champion kills restore nexus HP on Dominion, make the buff from two altars actually significant in combat (Because a 1% max HP heal on killing a unit won't do shit while you are trying to keep their Poppy off your Anivia), ANYTHING. These gamemodes rarely see changes, so they become stagnant.
- Put their changes further up in the Patch notes. People are lazy, and often will not read far enough to see the changes to secondary maps.
