Will new Galio be alright in support role?

I'm very interested in having a support with a global, and just curious for those who have played him on the pbe how he fairs when behind / or on a support gold/level income.

I haven't played him but the fact that he has a % damage reduction and free magic shields. He might be playable bot lane. % damage reduction at least is a very good support stat since it's extremely gold efficient. He might be good. His taunt would be good.

no, his abilities shove the wave too hard, it will be impossible for him to taunt anything without flash because his W + E cant be used together, they both have windups and long cast animations.

and for all the same reasons as old galio and why you dont want him mid, still apply to new galio (poor mana control) they destroyed his wave management. he can shove/push only.

TahmKench Shen would be better supports with globals.

I think he will be able to be Top, Supp and Jungle without many problems, and if the team runs a squishy top laner he might work as midlaner too if the matchup favors him.

Think Leona, Alistar, or Shen.

He provides a tankier frontline with Poke, CC, and Mobility. He won't provide direct support because he cant heal or shield his allies except through his Ult. But there are items such as Redemption, Mikaels, and Locket that can remedy that.

I think he can do fine as a support, just need to learn how it works. Probably a better match up against AP heavy teams. Although I bet he could out trade some of the tankier supports as well. His Ult, Taunt, and Knock Up will make ganking the adc difficult and will also make him able to support his jungler or midlander if they get into trouble.

I don't get why you can't just play a real support with global map presence like Tahm and Soraka, or even Shen. Also, Galio wouldn't be the best pick for support since he can't W+E meaning to land his W he would have to flash because his W's animation takes so long and his new ult can be cancled if he's hard CC'd, hard CC being something you'll run into a lot bot lane. Not to mention you can stop him while he's charging his E if he's hard CC'd. Basically he's weak against Karma, Zyra, Janna, Soraka, Sona, Leona, Braum, Morgana, Brand(if he lands all his abilities before you W), and Lux. I'm probably forgetting like 5 more champions that would still be a better support than Galio.
