Anyone else feel part of the missions are way too pay to play?

Riot already makes a ton of money off of LCS, skins, wards, and icons alone.

I went through all the arcade missions, and it gave me enough tickets to get 1 of the mega orbs. With a remainder of only 50 tickets there isn't much else to get

But if i want to get more tickets from more missions, I have to pay money to play the missions and only earn a random reward that I may or may not have to pay MORE money in order to unlock the shard.

I thought the idea of the loot system was allowing players that didn't have a lot of cash a chance to get that content anyway but the trade off would be that you don't get to pick what you're getting. Even if you do spend money from time to time, loot in theory is a good incentive to play more.

To build up these events with missions that you only can partially participate in without paying money, coupled with the game not rewarding you for practicing a few champs (limited loot) is ruining the experience for me.

I find it silly that some people actually spend over $100 sometimes attempting to get the loot-only content. Lastly, if you're playing your main pool of champs the loot system becomes this background aspect of league that you may only touch again in events. The honor rewards don't seem to be really rewarding other than flash and so they don't pick up the slack of the loot system either. I'm at honor 4 and I've only gotten key fragments. I have a bajillion keys now XD

TL:DR What do you guys think? Does the loot system seem like its far too pay to play? Have honor rewards and events really felt rewarding?

No, I don't think it is pay to play at all. You're spending money to participate further in an event. That is it's own thing entirely.

That doesn't make sense to me though. Did you spend the money? Did you even care about participating in it? Your comment seems to be taking it at Riot's word and face value. It feels like a scam if you spend time thinking about what transaction is taking place.

Minus the missions, you're paying money to unlock a box with extra effort over buying it in store. However, its literally the same as just buying a box and key because its random . Guaranteeing that its an epic shard doesn't change that its random. Where's the incentive in paying to play the missions other than "oh I did it".

I don't think you should have to pay to play all of the missions for the event, especially if the loot is just a shard. Either you cash in other shards to unlock that one or pay for it.

In the end, its still more about money than the philosophy of accessibility that Riot already proposed by introducing loot in the first place.

In all honesty, finishing the Veigar, Blitzcrank questlines REALLY makes me want to do the other ones when I know I can't pay for it. To answer your question, maybe they are, maybe they aren't. Riot has done stuff like this before that had nothing to do with the missions such as the PROJECT cores and the "YOUR SHOP."

Edit: In my opinion, pay to play is so closely related to "pay to win" that I can't help but think of those two are the same, when I don't think this is "pay to win" at all.

Yeah pay to win is different. Yes they've done similar things with events before but even then it felt just as "pay to participate". I mean, the missions don't even unlock the skins for the event, so whats the big deal with making us pay to play the missions? XD
