He's also listed as a bruiser... and didn't get any updates during the whole, "Riot loves bruisers!" update. I actually posted a comment in a Juggernaut thread:
"I like how Wukong is actually considered a bruiser by RIot, yet he just kinda got left out. I know he's nearly perfect and I'd hate to bring attention to my favorite champion, for fear they just may nerf him out of existence, but he really is weak compared to the other bruisers, which Riot obviously felt were weaker and in greater need of an update. He also has one ability that scales with AP... very little scaling... so little, in fact, that it is pointless to even invest in AP for that ability. He has one of the lowest base attack damages of any of the other bruisers... I guess they just feel his kit is so loaded that he doesn't need help. However, the more buffs you give to similar champions the weaker he becomes."
Personally, I build
,
,
,
,
, then I leave the last spot open as a situational item. I like the attack speed cause it synergizes really well with the ability he gets from his E.
is nice on him too, especially if you have attack speed built up, then the ability from his E just shreds people with the autos not to mention will slow them by then your cool downs are over and you can lay into them again. I build more health on him than actual armor or magic resist, but like I said its situational.
As a lover of Wukong the only complaint I have about him really is the fact that his base attack damage is a joke compared to the other bruisers/juggernauts. But his abilities scale well and his kit is pretty loaded.
However, going back to your original quandary, what you build should be determined by what you're facing. If you're supposed to be a tank for the team, does the other team have more AP or AD? If you were playing in lane did you get shreded or were you the one shredding? Personally I feel building HP is the better option for Wukong since his passive just makes him super tanky anyway, you can normally sustain long enough in a team fight for your team to do what they need to do.
