Unbalanced does not equal broken

This is something I hear everyone confuse way too much, and I feel like I should explain it.

An unbalanced champion is one that has numbers problems. An unbalanced champion would be like Velkoz having an extra 300 base damage on his q and a 4 second cd reduction. It's something that a numbers fix can change and doesn't require any changes to the kit itself.

A broken champion is a champion that is inherently flawed in design. A broken champion would be one like Urgot. Argue all you want, his kit is everywhere. He's a marksman that's designed to jump into the middle of the enemy team. Now urgot isn't exactly considered strong, so another example would be Tryndamere. Tryndamere might be unbalanced, but he is also broken, as his kit does not allow for healthy interaction. Saying "Orianna is so broken!" because you think that she's too strong is not the correct way to say it and it brings confusion and arguments between everyone.

So please... Use the correct term. Unbalanced - Numbers change. Nerf/buff Broken - Kit change. Gameplay update.

Why can't I say that Orianna is broken? What if I think her design is flawed?

It's okay to think that her design itself is flawed. I'd debate it with you, but the point I'm trying to make is that saying that Orianna is broken just because she kicked your ass and you think her numbers are too strong is not grounds to say she's broken

Now I'm not 100% what you mean by flawed, but I think Orianna is broken because she will always be viable because her whole kit gives her everything. She'll always be top tier no matter what, and if they nerf her numbers it'll just make her plain bad.

TL;DR It's a champion you can't balance

I wouldn't say shes always gonna be top tier because she hasn't always been top tier, she's on the cusp a lot but not always there. Even know Idk if I'd say she's S Tier.

Let me rephrase: She's always going to be highly viable because of her kit.

This whole post is just a rant because your view of what certain video game slang means is different from someone else's. Broken means something that breaks the game. If numbers being too high breaks the game, it's broken, even if a simple numbers change would fix it. Unbalanced and broken aren't mutually exclusive.

Example: If a champion had an ability that dealt 50% max health true damage on a 1 second cooldown, that would be broken. Changing the numbers around so it was 5% max health true damage on a 20 second cooldown wouldn't be broken.
