Ezreal - The 'ADC'
I know. I really know. This is an unpopular standpoint. However let us take a look at a couple of things:
- His name is the Prodigal Explorer
- Every skill scales with AP - at a higher ratio than AD.
- His passive gives about as much attack speed as a single item purchase... giving him the benefit of not needing one AS item. Which he does not use.
- Mathematically benefits more from Lich Bane damage wise.
- W no longer heals, true, but it's benefit is only for others... or damage.
- His AP ratios cause every ability that he has to be extremely painful.
- The damage ratio for both E and W are very high, as are base damages... which are both rendered nothing more than tricks other ADCs do better... and rendered useless other than e utility.
Running Ezreal as an ADC severely limits him as a Q throwing attack bot that can flash away every few seconds. He benefits from Utility boots far more than AS boots - for good reason - he is a skill spamming caster. Skills that are half crippled under an AD build.
Ezreal was never released as an ADC. He was always a caster that, during a pro season, he gained popularity as an ADC. Like the AD Annie fad that swept the game for awhile, Ezreal can play as an ADC, but it was never his actual 'home role.' Now, however, people lament his ratios, damage growth, and numbers as far as being an ADC. Which he isnt.
RIOT has done a number of extremely minor tweaks to his numbers, over the years, to allow him to scale with AD a bit better than he ever did simply to appease the demands to buff his ADC capabilities... but he is still, ultimately, a caster. Shall we next begin demanding that Veigar be reworked so he can be effective as a jungler?
