Consider the following: The advice i just gave you comes from C9 Contractz. Watch the vid, and take the advice given by Why So Fishy with a grain of salt.

https://youtu.be/weLNPUBIcJk

You need to remember that different elo's have different impacts on gameplay. Its not a matter of "knowing how to balance farming and ganking more than other junglers", thats like saying you need to know how to manage a wave with ashe more than other ADCs. Obviously every jungler require different pathing & strategy. Obviously every situation calls for something different. Be aware of your situations so you can make the appropriate calls. If you get shut down early with anyone, it will be hard to comeback. Not just kayn. But as I've mentioned, kayn gets weaker as the game goes on. If you get "shut down early", then you NEED to go with rhaast so you can contribute to your team with his CC instead of choosing Assassin and powerfarming all game to catch back up in gold until you start doing damage. Does that make sense? If you're shut down early, become utility & contribute to teamfights instead. If you snowball hard early and your team comp lacks an assassin &/or already has strong peel/an existing frontline, then go shadow assassin. Most of the time in solo q however, everyone wants to be the carry & do the most dmg. So if you already have high burst dmg output in your comp then choosing shadow assassin is like having zed and talon on the same team: completely overkill & pointless. Choosing one or the other is not about "who you prefer", nor is it about one having a higher skillcap. It's about your contribution to your team. Also, if you're building the same items every game, you're not building to your best potential nor learning why one item is more effective than another. Meaning: if the enemy team's carries are AP &/or their comp has a lot of CC, then why would up build ninja tabis when Merc Treads are much more effective? The builds he suggested are the most common & popular builds, i build similar most of the time. But dont build that way Every Single Time if the situation calls for something else. Also, the pathing he suggested is 100% situational and can waste your time. Such as: if you know your opponent is starting red, why don't you start at your red, then after that immediately invade his blue? It can be risky if the enemy team warded that area, so youd need to rely on your teammates to keep pressure in their lanes. If you know they can clear fast, start raptors because you can clear it solo & its the fastest way to hit level 2. Does that make sense? Don't waste your time clearing your own jungle when you can be taking gold from your opponent instead, and warding their jungle so your teammates know where they are at all times.

Thanks for the video that helps a lot.

My guess is that you aren't aggressive early game and then you go shadow assassin which is only decent if you snowballed and is utter garbage if you didn't. If you have 42% winrate while going Rhaast then sorry but you should start looking for other champs to play :(

Numerically speaking, kayn is strongest early game. He sits comfortably in the top 20 champs with best base stats overall, and among the top 5 with most mana and best mana regen. That means youre able to spam your abilties often without much consequence. He also has probably the best mobility for a jungler. THAT means you should be invading as much as possible and looking for trades with the enemy jungler. EVEN IF they out-trade you, you have the mobility to gtfo. And guess what? In doing so, youre also getting your passive stacked a lot faster with little consequence. Also, shadow assassin sucks right now, so i strongly recommend only going rhaast. His healing and cc elments are MUCH better than his counterpart.

This is always strange to me, because vs all of the meta junglers he feels super weak. So even though his base stats are great, the power doesnt feel like is there until he gets a form. I try to steal camps, but use my time ganking where we outnumber them.

I get that lower elo players constantly look for kills & trades, like Call of Duty players obsessing over KDAs, but its unreliable in the end. If you're not invading & warding your enemy jungle then you dont know where they are. So ganking can result in a counter gank. It can also cause your overextended teammate in toplane to get ganked while you're botside. And what happens if you spend your time ganking and fail to get any kills out of it? The enemy jungler will punish you for it by invading your jungle or grouping on the other side of the map to gank your team/take a tower/take drake or herald. You will also fall behind in gold while the enemy jungler will be ahead of you & can take the control of your jungle away from you. The higher you climb in elo, the more of your opponents will know to take advantage of these mistakes you make.

I posted anther comment in this thread with a link to a video explaining it better.

I don't play for KDA, its just don't tell people to just "invade" because he will probably lose the 1v1 until he gets a form. BTW, if you gank you get orbs, even if no kill and you just put pressure on the enemy that is great. He isn't like most junglers where I feel like just getting a flash is important because he outscales most others.

Mianta1 votes

... did you read what i wrote, or watch the video..? He doesn't outscale lol. Like legitimately does not scale well. His early game is his strongest, with his weakest moments being lvl 6-9. Obviously getting your transformation is a huge powerspike. But constantly ganking causes you to lose a lot of gold while the opposing jungler will outfarm & outscale you because of it. The enemy team can also take notice of your location on the map and safely ward/invade your jungle causing you to lose more gold. Low elo players make themselves more vulnerable for ganks, i know. And you should gank if you know you can get a kill out of it. But spending all your time trying to gank people is a TERRIBLE idea. If you want to climb, then head my advice. If you want to stay where you are, then ignore me and dont learn how higher elo players play the game.

Dude, you are basically the same rank (I am gold 5) as me, and your win-rate on kayn is awful, I would stop watching pro vids blindly, and learn actually how to play lol.

Mianta1 votes

Oh im sorry, did I ever say I main kayn? Let alone play him seriously? I play league to relieve stress, not add to it with the competitiveness & seriousness that comes with rank.

I study champs that interest me, i watch pro plays, i know strategies that people in high elo use. If you want to properly debate the validity of the points i made, then please go ahead. Dont try to use my gameplay statistics as an argument, because for all you know i could have a little brother using this account. (Thats not true, im just saying not to expand past your ignorance).

You called me a low elo KDA chaser. And the fact of the matter is if he wants to get good with a champ watching Jat's videos wont help him nearly as much, if at all, compared to watching High elo streamers and videos of high elo korean players to see what they do with him.

Oh im sorry, did I ever say I main play kayn? Let alone play him seriously?

IF you dont do either of those, you generally cant know how to play him and are just rattling of nonsense other say. Anyone can read a random Joes guide, but that doesnt mean much if random Joe has a 30% winrate over 100 games on the champ.

I study champs that interest me, i watch pro plays, i know strategies that people in high elo use.

With this and the previous quote, even if you don't play him much I don't see how you would not win on him by knowing the basics of the champ, also once again reading can only get you so far. Start playing the champ before spouting off none-sense.

1.) I never said you're a low elo KDA chaser. I said that the strategies players in low elo use are most commonly about chasing kills. Read the paragraph again, not once did it refer to you specifically. I have NO IDEA what elo you are. Platinum players will still tend to focus more on kills than objectives sometimes. That "strategy" is just a constant trend you see in lower elos, as if it's the current meta. And you honestly think the only way to get better at a champ is to ignore videos like that and advice from pro players (even if they lost worlds) over content from high elo korean players? The difference between them is that the video I linked includes proper advice & explanations. Streamers aren't generally giving breakdowns, so excuse me.

2.) Why do you think professional team's have coaches that aren't actually playing on the team? Why isn't KKoma filling in when Peanut's benched? Why aren't the LCS analysts professional players? People learn in different ways, people are better at different things. Your logic is therefore faulty. You don't have to be a movie producer to know if a movie is shitty or to think of ways on how to improve it.

3.) Like I said, I don't play league for the serious competitiveness. I use League to avoid my problems & have fun. That being said, higher elos require a lot more thought & planning than lower elos, so I can pretty much play without a care in the world since you're not punished extremely hard for tiny things. It's like, playing league while you're stoned. I'm not trying to win, I'm just screwing around and having fun. I don't play Kayn often because I don't have fun with him. If I wanted to climb, I wouldn't be level 7 on 11 champs, level 6 on 9 champs, etc. Lol. Does that make sense? I'd be focusing on a small champ pool (that's meta) in one role. I'd be playing with a pre-made team. Not wasting my time in solo-q. I hate carries, so I don't play them. I don't care about winning.

Stop spouting off nonsense when you have no idea what my playstyle is.

even if they only have one tank, rhasst is a decent option. with two tanks/beefy champs on enemy team, you make a great drain tank. if you get two or three early kills, you can snowball hard with Shadow. I dont think one is outright better than either one. they both just have their own ideal situations. knowing which one you should pick is the best way to increase your win rate with the champ.

I have 100k Mastery Points as Kayn , so I might be able to help you. Judging off your recent games, you don't have a solid build order down, so here's mine. I build these items in this order is almost every single game. There's really no situation where these will let you down.

SA: item 1400 , item 3117 , item 3142 , item 3147 , item 3036 , item 3026

Rhaast: item 1400 ,item 3047 , item 3071 ,item 3065 , item 3812

Kayn is NOT an easy champion to play. He's deceivingly difficult because you have to know how to balance farming and ganking a lot more than other junglers. If you get shut down early, its pretty tough to make a good comeback. My best advice is to learn how to play both forms effectively, but you will naturally have a slight preference of one form over the other. It's important to know which form is best for your team for that game. Try going Raptors>Red>Wolves>Gromp>Scuttle>Blue then look to gank. Start Q, then go E to heal before you start your red.

P.S. Anyone telling you Shadow Assassin is bad likely doesn't have a lot of experience actually playing the champion. SA requires more planning and strategy than Rhaast, but the payoff is a lot bigger. I personally prefer SA over Rhaast.
