Kog is almost like the anti-Kalista

Just as Kalista's remarkable ability to flawlessly kite gives her quite a few unique strengths that no other ADC has, Kog's inability to kite gives him several unique weaknesses that no other ADC has.

It makes it harder for him to kite, obviously. It makes him more vulnerable to skillshots. It makes him uniquely vulnerable to dives. And disengage for that matter. It doubles the effectiveness of OnHit damage block and damage return against him. It places him in a very unfavorable position against short trades. With his W up, his damage against Towers actually drops before seven minutes into the game. And his heavy reliance on OnHit effects means his damage against Towers is probably the lowest among ADCs come late.

Just as Riot underestimated how much of a strength Kalista's hops are when she was created, Riot massively underestimated how much of a weakness Kog's double attack speed with half damage is. But I guess this isn't the first time that the relative power of mobility vs immobility has been misjudged, is it?

I feel like you are heavily underestimating just how much DPS Kog Maw does. Yeah, he does indeed have the weakness of being non mobile, but you once again can't compare two champions and only look at the pros of one champion while ignore the cons of another to get your way.

But he can be sooooo devastating late game...

kog is fine that way, with a good disengage-support to protect him he´s still insanly strong. It´s actually good design to finally have a champion with a clear weakness and clear strengths to play around...not just some frog with tons of utility and still too much dmg to have that count as weakness.

I'm not saying that Kog's design is bad.

I'm saying that Riot underestimated Kog's weakness and didn't compensate accordingly. It appears they agree, as the last time they touched him (which ended up being a nerf) it was with the express intent of trying to improve him. They under-shot his power so much when his remake was released that he required a hotfix buff to lift him from 'worst champion in the game' to 'worst ADC in the game.'

Hence, Riot seems to have a history of underestimating how much of a weakness complete immobility is.

for SoloQ...yea, but even in his 1st preseason-stage he had instantly picked in professional play, as he is just really that powerfull if played well (as a team). So no, i donßt say they have underestimated it much, they just gave him a really bad powercurve and fixed it slightly in the current version.

Just that Kalista literally dies if slowed once lol

What's the point of this thread? Yes, Kog isn't very mobile, Kalista is rather mobile... And?

Kog'maw is easily one of the single most devastating adc's when it comes to melting teams when he's peeled for and where as kalista can hop around with a hurricane and e an entire team to nothing. I don't think either is "anti" the other.

Kalista and Kog actually have something in common though, they both do higher DPS while standing still, Kog because his auto attacks come out too fast to move between them and Kalista because her passive causes her auto attack wind up animation to be delayed by 33% compared to when she is stationary, you can still move between Kog's auto attacks you just can't utilize the max attack speed while doing it. One really awesome thing about the new Kog is his tower pressure, item 2139 does the 25 true damage to structures on every attack.

Kog'maw needs more early game power. Champs who dive Kog should be thinking that this is a risk because Kog could turn that machine gun on me before my burst finishes.
