Why are people so adverse to reworks?

Riot only reverted two reworks (Rengar and Leblanc), fucked up two of them (Aatrox, who is debatable, and Akali), and made two of them overpowered (Hue-dekaiser and Garen, who is debatable). The rest of them range from subpar to godtier masterpieces.

So why is it that people want reworks and VGUs reverted?

The easiest answer is because riot changed a champ they liked or love in a way they hated or riot deleted a skin they loved like frostbutt irelia during the rework.

Aatrox doesn't exist anymore in any capacity. This is a completely different champ replacing one that had a dedicated following and just needed numbers tuning.

They also reverted kogmaw. Even tho he wasn’t broken.

But that’s why we don’t like reworks. They ALWAYS break them to some stupid degree to the point where they have such a high banrate you can never hope to play them.

because people don't like change

Not everyone's against reworks.

Well, maybe except GreenKnight. ;)

People feel the way that they do, because their experience has taught them to.

And when people want specific things reverted, then it's direct experience.

  1. New champions and reworks are always problematic for a long time if not just straight up OP. No one wants their champ to be the new OP, they will never get to play them again.

  2. They change something that was core to their identity, the champion remains similar but doesn't fill the same spot anymore. Now there is no champion to fill that spot and you feel like you are left without your champion, just something kinda the same.

  3. (Specific to the Class update failures) It felt like they didn't give a rework as much attention as others and it shows.
