Jhin: Crit vs Lethality

I recently got Jhin, and I'm wondering how you build him... I've these 3 builds the most:

  1. (Full Crit Jhin) item 3094 item 3031 item 3072 item 3508 item 3036 /item 3033 item 3009 then sell boots foritem 3046
  2. (Half Lethality, Half Crit Jhin)item 3142 item 3814 item 3094 item 3031 item 3812 item 3009
  3. (Full Lethality Jhin)item 3147 item 3142 item 3814 item 3036 /item 3033 item 3812 item 3009

I played around in practice mode, and it SEEMED like full crit Jhin did the most. Is there something that I'm missing? If so PLEASE explain to me! I know that Pro Esport Guys play the Lethality/Crit Jhin, but it doesn't seem to do as much as full crit...

P.S. I'm not an anti lethality guy, I play Varus full lethality. P.S.S. please also comment about what items to build first: ex. go Ghost Blade>Rapid Fire> Swift Boots >Infinity Edge>Vampiric Sceptor> Edge of Night> Death's Dance

When do you want to have your uber power and who are you against are better questions.

#Explination: Crit is a later power spike but is far superior to lethality in almost every way, especially since it is effective against almost if not all opponents. The only trade-off being a delayed power spike. Lethality is best when against squishier targets and has an early power spike while the trade-offs being not having the same insane damage as a full crit build, no CDR, and you have to have boots which is 1 less damage item.

I would always recommend the full crit build if you ever are unsure as to which build would be better since it is always better in the end simply because it scales insanely well. But if you know your enemy is gonna be squishy, then lethality is better because of the low armor your targets will have. Lethality offers more resistance too, but usually you can work through the fight without it if you are careful/familiar enough with him and the enemies' champions.

Both builds are fine in most situations, but the more tankiness/armor the enemy is/has, the better crit is over lethality.

#Builds: Crit:

  1. item 3508/item 3031 (pick one, either works depending on situation)
  2. item 3009 (replace with item 3046 once you have the 3 crit items/70% crit)
  3. item 3094/item 3087(I actually go shiv since it adds some magic damage wave clear to your burst and can also crit, but the standard is RFC)
  4. item 3508/item 3031(the one you didn't take first)
  5. item 3036/item 3033(pick one of these)
  6. Honestly your choice here for a 6th item but I would recommend item 3812 item 3153 item 3071 item 3142 or item 3026

Lethality:

  1. item 3142
  2. item 3009
  3. item 3814
  4. item 3147
  5. item 3036/item 3033(pick one of these)
  6. item 3812 item 3153 item 3071 or item 3026

#Side note:

I would not build item 3072 since only basic attacks over heal you and you have 4 shots at most at any given time. Plus with the buff to BORK it is imo a better option for lifesteal, or just take the usual Death's Dance.

The hybrid crit/letahlity build is generally better. Its cheaper to start and can easily transition to full crit if needed. It also gives the ability to hurt squishies and tanks well as well as 2 strong actives.

Generally, i find myself going ghostblade>edge of night>IE>rfc/last whisper item>lw/rfc with boots thrown in early.

But builds are also game specifIc on jhin. The ghostblade active is nice for disengage and kiting. But if their team has like 3 tanks ill go edge into crit with last whisper asap.

Mercurial scimtar is also a far better buy on jhin than bloodyhirster or deaths dance. You can get cd elsewhere and you dont auto fast enough for BT to really get its full effect. Merc gives life steal while also giving mr and its life saving active.

Oh also bear in mind that playing him with lethality requires different runes than normal.

In general for all adcs, lethality is used because it's a lot better and cheaper early, so you can win lane and the game before late game. Crit builds usually do more damage late game

Aside from cheaper early, I've noticed another benefit from lethality. simply, Lethality is better against glass cannons, and your lane opponent is going to be a glass cannon. Makes it that much of a better pick up.

I'd get Lethality early, and go for a half build if the enemy had strong tanks, or full Lethality if the enemy had more glass cannons.

Not an expert on Jhin, but speaking generally,

Lethality spikes earlier than Crit build, which lines up well with Jhin's power spike.

Crit is more late game oriented build. Jhin isn't bad at building crit, it just makes you a regular adc that is good in late game, which is usually not the reason why you want to pick Jhin.
