"Clubs" were a mistake. Bring back chat rooms.

Half the point of chat rooms was that, as long as they knew the tag, anybody could hop in.

New player? There's a chat full of vets who will gladly teach you the ropes. Looking for a Duo? There's a chat full of Mids looking for Junglers, ADC's looking for supports, Tops looking for somebody to talk to during the 20 minute lane phase. Streamer looking for people to do customs? Just post your chat room in your stream and people will pour in.

If your goal for "Clubs" was to have something akin to Clans, that's fine, but they in no way replace Chat Rooms.

Clubs have several fundamental problems that mean they cannot fill the void left by the removal of chat rooms.

  • They are invite only, so instead of being able to pop in whenever you like
  • On top of being invite only, it's only for manual invitations, so you can't just do this shit.
  • Clubs aren't searchable in the client, so the only way to find a club you want is to find them and their leader via a third party and message them.
  • The number of people in a club is capped, so you can't just use a Club as a hub for large communities even if you wanted to.
  • The number of clubs you can have at once is capped, so you can't just accumulate them like you do Discord servers, and if you want to drop one temporarily you would need to ping the leader later to ask for an invite back.

Why not both?

Bring back spectating high elo games while you are at it

Doesn't help that Riot has done absolutely nothing with clubs since the feature was created. No additions or updates, no real point to using them outside of having a club tag next to your name.

Mistake? More like clubs have been abandoned by Riot & given no love.

It would be nice if they updated us on the future of clubs and mastery points.

I have a feeling they aren't making plans for clubs because the client is objectively a mess right now.

i dont really care about clubs but theres 1 problem that bothers me that you didnt adress.

theres a somewhat large club on euw with the tag "kys" and one with "fäg" about the kys one i heard many times it exists since day 1. its just another way for ppl to insult others. "do as my clan tag says"

Hey there. Clubs as they are currently serve no purpose. However they could be great if they did the following:

Hmm we do have a lot of social media channels for League, though. I like clubs for the tags and group dynamics.

You know what else was a club related mistake?

Removing the fricking penguins.

Chat rooms also had a cap. Though, that cap might have been on how many accounts could be in the room at a time.

Yes please. Chat rooms were so helpful. Clubs aren't.

look, at least i get the tag "yifme" to put next to my name. can't get that with chat rooms.

but yeah we also need chats as well.

The chat rooms were funny, I miss popping in for the random BS.

Modl Ryden l1/21/2020, 7:33:19 AM1 votes

Literally, people only use clubs to hoard, sell, buy, and flex words from the dictionary or champion names and their variants. No one uses it to chat except for 'that one guy.'

Screw 'that one guy' and the club tag black market. Bring back public chat.

Better: Back to the original old Clubs ** AND ** Back to the original old Chatrooms

And nice back to the spectating high elo games

note: At the moment is that what we call "clubs" only groupchats (parts of old groupchat functions) and the clubs are ruined - they dosent work as clubs ( functiion view)
