This is why I probably won't get a chest to drop much often anymore.

Hello, if you think this post is me saying "Rito gimme more free stuff", then you're kinda jumping the gun. This post is just to highlight how much more tedious it is for chest to drop for solo players.

So I had games where people in my team would get an S and nothing would drop and at first I didn't think much of it because you know "Maybe all 4 of my chest are used up or maybe I've already gotten a chest on this champion." But recently, I've started paying attention to see the conditions of what happened even after someone got an S and a chest didn't drop.

Before I continue, it'd be good to point out the conditions on which a chest may drop. (Link: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/207884233-Hextech-Crafting-Guide )

"Earn these through achieving a Mastery rank of S or higher, or purchase them in the store for RP. A chest requires a key to open, and will contain a piece of content (a champion/skin shard or a Summoner icon) and possibly a certain amount of essence. Some details:

You can earn up to four chests at a time, with one chest slot regenerating each week. Purchasing chests doesn’t contribute to this limit, so even after earning four chests in a week, you can purchase another. You can purchase up to 25 chests per day. Once you earn a chest from achieving S rank on a champion, you won’t be able to earn another with that champion until the end of the season. You can see which champions you’ve earned chests with in your profile’s Champions tab. This chest cap resets each season. If someone in your premade group earns an S rank, you’ll receive a chest as well! The chest you receive is tied to the champion you’re playing, so that champion will be unable to earn more chests for this season. You can only earn chests if you're playing a champion you own. So, if you rent a champion or play an unowned champion on the free rotation, you won't be able to earn a chest with them. However, if your premade partner earns an S rank on a champion they don't own, you can still earn a chest from their S rank as long as you own the champion you're playing."

  1. "If someone in your premade group earns an S rank, you'll receive a chest as well." - I normally play solo for many reasons. One of the main reasons I play solo is to let me be able to learn better coordination with people I don't have communication with (besides pings and in game chat) so I can train myself to react to a situation that may happen in my match. (I.e. Malphite just ulted into my team and two of my members got hit and now a teamfight has broken out. What is the best course of action in this event based on the role I'm currently playing?) Since I play solo (aka not with a premade), I don't get a chest if my teammate(s) got an S.

"But Bamiie, why don't you just play with a premade then?" Good point. Majority of my friends are way higher elo than me so while I'm having fun playing with my friends and laughing our butts off together via Discord, it also irritates me when I feel like I drag my team down because I am not as skilled as them and do not have as much game knowledge as them. Don't get me wrong, I do like going up against tougher opponents (so I can get beat and become better) but being repeadtly killed over and over again because someone knows how to outplay me due to them being at a high elo than me doesn't help me learn anything since I won't be able to tell where I messed up because the skill gap range is so huge between me and my enemy.

"Then why don't you just play with people are your elo?" Frankly, I have met a bunch of cool (and not so cool) people through having them as teammates in my match at me elo but I don't want to try to always invite a person I don't actually know irl to a game just because I need a premade to get a chest.

  1. "You can earn a chest by getting an S rank or higher on a champion you own." I'll just blunt with this. I'm not that good to be able to pull a S with most of my champions. Even with my mains, it's still very hard to get a S rank even if I did well that match. Even challenger players coughcoughaphromoocough have had trouble pulling an S with VERY clean and well played games. My champion pool is still small at the moment so I don't have a lot of champions I can play well enough to actually earn an S via me.

Again, this post is not a "I want more free things so I'm going to complain and protest in the forums so I can get it." It's just to highlight how it's more tedious for solo players to get a chest to drop. I wanted to create this post in order to share my thoughts on it so far and to see if anyone else is facing this same issue. Tbh, I'm fine with not getting a chest every single time someone gets an S or higher but I haven't had a chest drop for me in about over a month now so I just wanted to share my opinion.

TL;DR - It's harder for solo players to get a chest to drop because 1. If the person who got a chest to drop wasn't in their premade, they won't get one & 2. It's highly unlikely to get an S often on every champion you play, even if it's your main.

I get enough chests. . . . I get to play with a premade group often enough.

Rito really favoures premade groups. Most of my games are solo, and I agree that current factors favour playing in a group. I'm a lone wolf! I should feel like I have the same potential, no matter how many of my friends are online!
