Why is the Yasuo problem being addressed by Riot in the WORST WAY POSSIBLE?

Baited yet again by that control ward, now face the wrath of Nautilus and Garen!

This isn't just one of those "I hate Yasuo" rants.

Here, I will be evaluating Yasuo from the eyes of someone in Gold V with 0 lp. (Hire me already LCS i can 1v5)

Table of Contents:

Things I like while playing against Yasuo Things I don't like while playing Yasuo Things I like while playing Yasuo Things I don't like while playing against Yasuo Things I enjoy while playing AGAINST Yasuo Conclusion Suggestions TL:DR Why I bothered writing this

--Let's begin--

Yasuo's shielding in its base passive form alone is healthy, because it requires a long charge time in order to activate, and can be mitigated by any amount of small poke.

Yasuo's Q is actually a very fun ability to use and play around. A melee champion with slight poke enables counterplay and thinking around.

Yasuo's Q is also fun in the sense that every third Q is a long range poke knockup, which might set up for his ult, or a jungler coming in.

Yasuo's E and his Q interactions are great, because they change the hitbox of the Q itself, enabling further options to damage, but not in an oppressive manner.

Yasuo's W is useless against all melee champions like Darius or Garen.

Things I don't like while playing AS Yasuo:

His innate strength lies in the ability to weave in and out of minions while killing them quickly. However, if Yasuo kills off all the minions, his strength in dashing vanishes, and is left as a stranded duck, forced to run to the best of his ability against melee champions.

He's not the best at roaming if played mid. Roaming champs like Talon and Aurelion Sol are better at roaming and helping out other lanes. The only form of hard cc he has requires preemptive preparation.

Things I like about playing AS Yasuo:

High snowball potential. If you get a kill and are ahead in cs, your damage can outscale that of an enemy.

Dashy Dash. M o b i l i t y, as long as enemy creeps are all over the place.

Wall of wind. All ranged champs without dashes cry.

Dashy Knockup-more Ult. Situationally an escape, cc, armor pen, damage, shielding, and engage. It has so many seperate facets that it becomes a powerful ability because of all of the situations.

Has good dueling potential. His Q I feel is good because it's an AOE empowered auto attack. I don't see why they had to buff it. It's like a more spread out Riven Q in a sense.

Things I don't like while playing AGAINST Yasuo:

E Mobility. While it's fun AS Yasuo, playing against it is a pain in the butt, especially since you have no control over your own minions. You can let him take cs, or let him get mobility.

Windwall duration. It's annoying to launch an entire combo over a duration of 3 seconds, only to realize you're absolutely useless in a key teamfight because Yasuo decided to put a single point into his W. Of course, knowing this ahead of time, your team decides not to engage. After 22 seconds, a good opportunity strikes again! Yasuo uses W again! Hahahah good opportunity more like DASHED hopes and dreams get it because Yasuo dashes a lot hahaha im so funny laff plz

That hotfix. There was no need. His Q is a core part of his identity, but with his attacks already dealing damage in crit, I don't understand the reasoning behind adding 30% more crit damage for no reason other than for the heck of it. It wasn't a hotfix as much as a way to keep Yasuo on top, and that's not what a hotfix is for.

In conclusion:

His Q is a great ability IMO. It did not need the 180% crit strike damage. I dislike playing against Master Yi more than against a Yasuo, because Yasuo at least doesn't have a reliable BLINK ENGAGE on a low cooldown, and has less damage mitigation. He is still fun to play as, even if I'm bad at him and don't do well. It's like Riven. I may suck at her but she's fun. (Here is my pro Riven combo: Ignite>Q>Q>Q>W>E>R>R>AA>Flash>AA>AA>AA...>spam whatever abilities come back up)

Possible suggestions since everyone on boards complains about him at one point or another:

Idk don't make him the wind itself. He doesn't need that much dashiness. Maybe make it an execute on minions, and let it deal more damage?

W doesn't need to last as long as it does, and I find that the powerful aspect is that it DOESN'T MOVE, making it an extremely powerful zoning tool. Maybe it could shoot out further, and dissipate instantly upon reaching the end of the path? Maybe it could be turned into a close range guaranteed knock up that only lasts for 1 second?

His shield is fine. Stop complaining about how his ult recharges the shield. I think it's a healthy aspect of Yasuo. I'd actually like to see its duration increased, in order to ensure Yasuo embodies at least some aspect of a melee fighter who can hold his own who isn't reliant on lifesteal/assassinating through targeted dashes.

DO NOT let the ult automatically reposition Yasuo outside of turret range. I feel it should always be behind the unit. This way, not only can you dash out by dashing through the champ back into your original position, but also adds fair risk towards making diving plays into what someone assumes is safe territory.

Yasuo's passive should indeed get changed a little. Maybe an auto attack manipulator passive that increases healing on auto attacks every x seconds or something rather than increasing crit by x2, or perhaps reforming Yasuo into a support and changing an auto into a stun on the first hit every x seconds. Why should it be changed? First of all, Infinity Edge exists. Second of all, only 30% crit items exist, making for some wonky af crit calculations. Either make crit able to go over 100%, purely for stat conversion (such as in stormrazer), or add SOMETHING with 20% plz.

On the topic of changing passives, why is Wukong's passive something meant for teamfights if he's a burst assassin?

Why I made this post:

It's so tiring to have two polarized sides. One arguing that Yasuo is op as hell and needs to be wiped from the game, and the other insisting that Yasuo is the embodiment of a perfect champion being demonized simply because there is nothing else to demonize, other than Zed. So, it seems it would be nice to have a thread where discussions about Yasuo could occur. I also made the article clickbaity because heaven knows that titles like these attract both crowds.

There isn't any polar opposite on Yasuo saying he's "perfectly designed" or "terribly designed".

glances at boards

The evidence disagrees.

I have never seen anyone say Yasuo is perfect design.

He is (kit wise).

Hm, these changes are actually pretty reasonable.
