First Day of playing with Kindred

...And I haven't been more angry at League. I actually cannot think of a time where I've felt more toxic, more disgusted with myself for my thoughts, and Riot for this champion. Half the people playing Kindred aren't reading anything about them, people are constantly wondering which color of the marks are for them (HINT - RED TEAM'S MARKS ARE RED, BLUE TEAM'S MARKS ARE BLUE. WOAAAAH.) And people are trying to go top, bot, mid, lanes that can't freely make use of their Hunt or fairly roam in to the enemy jungle without losing a tower. Kindred is on both teams so there's a 100% guarantee that one of them is going to save the enemy team and condemn your team, late game if they're competent and properly hunted things they deal 10% of your hp every autoattack so 11-12 autoattacks will kill you regardless of your build or who you are (taking in to account that resistances lower the damage, since it's physical damage), and with sated that's 20%! 20% of your hp every 3rd/4th autoattack, and 10% every other time. It's another mobility creep champion, which shuts down any non-mobile champions, which takes out a lot of the champion pool. Or, it does right now, later it won't because soon every champion is going to have a 2 second dash.

Don't get me wrong though, outside of Wolf's domain it's 6-7 seconds or so, but Wolf's domain will immediately lower the cooldown even if it's on cooldown at the time of casting, so that's fun. Build 40% cdr and spam laugh. Where is the window of opportunity? Where's the counterplay? Where's the beef? Why is it that any time a new champion that's a mechanical monster comes out, League becomes entirely unplayable for almost half the community? Why is it that the only available counterplay is the player having 0 clue what they're doing and gleefully skipping in to the entire enemy team thinking their ult will save them? Fuck, and this is in NORMALS. I can't imagine how many people are pissed that they have to waste a ban on Kindred because nobody knows how to play them, or counterplay them, just so that their dumb-ass team isn't going to throw from picking/facing a Kindred.

I'm salty as FUCK. And I don't like that a single champion release can do this to me. It's so garbage.

The only op thing about Kindred is the sustain from w passive. She may actually be underpowerd.

The ability to take down nexus turrets with no minions due to her ultimate, their free mobility with low cooldown, their %hp damage on every autoattack, and their 3-hit proc. 3-hit procs have never been underpowered.

Don't list champions strengths without aknowlegeing their weaknesses. That's like calling Karthus op because he has global damage Or Yorick op because his minions are hard to target Poppy op because the ult makes it impossible to damage her. Never call a champion overpowered by only listing strengths. Try counterjungling her to death. It works wonders. She really needs passive stacks to do anything, and if you deny that, she becomes very weak.

Counter-jungling is not a reliable weakness, because that's solved by warding and having someone respond to a ping. Similar to how "Just crowd control them" is not a reliable weakness to assassins.

Do you want me to take the time to list her weaknesses? Alright.

  1. Get her behind early - this makes her nearly useless aside from an ult
  2. Burst her down at the end of her Ult - timing burst for the end of kindreds ult makes her die and waste a cooldowin in the process. (dealing damage is a reliable counter, yes.)
  3. Use her ult on herself: Sometimes, kindred will use her ult to save herself. Fun fact: you can use this ult as the enemy too! It makes both allies and enemies invulnerable and heals both! Get in that circle of love and get your heal.
  4. Not to beat a dead horse, but she doesn't do well against CC. tanks shrug off CC, fighters mind it a little, but assasins and adc's are hurt badly by it. If you hit her with a morg binding, maokai w, rammus taunt, any other form of cc really cuts down on her ability to do much of anything
  5. CC her as you burst her down - I saw this a lot on a stream I watched, people would get kindred low, but before she could ult, they cc'd her and didn't allow the ult to be placed down and killed her.
  6. Can't emphasise enough, Counterjungle her! watch for where her passive monster hunts spawn and take them before she can. Without early stacks kindred isn't much of any use to anybody.
  7. By picking kindred, your team has one less potential tank and initator (assuming you have marksman for adc) making your team rely more heavily on support and top lane, which don't always pick tanky either. (lissandry, kennen, other damage tops etc.)

Hope I cleared up that she isn't a frelo champion, she also has counterplay, as does everybody. She has strengths... as does everybody, and weaknesses. Any further questions?

Eat her with Tahm kench through her ult... stun her through her ult.. etc..

counterjungling isn't a reliable counter in solo queue. professional teams and duo queue...or junglers who are actually good at solo queue do counter jungle, but, the majority of junglers, no matter how good,, tend to not counterjungle anyway because it's an inevitable truth that if the enemy team can delay the match long enough, stack based champions are more likely to win

Good point, but I don't think the game should be balanced around bad players, but around the good plays of skilled players.

Give it a few days. Don't you remember Ekko's release?

3TWarrior1 votes

ekko went for the standard 2 weeks(as has every champion released OP), then he was nerfed to a reasonable point, but what happened then...people used his high base damages to build him tanky

so, he then had to be nerfed again

now...you rarely see an ekko...not that you don' tsee him, but there are other choices even with his panic button...

I was referring more to everyone wanting to play them and few understanding how.

Just like with Ekko's release, I'm seeing TONS of people auto-lock Kindred as soon as the room opens, and then saying they'll play anywhere. Surprise, surprise, EVERYONE who does this is TERRIBLE! They're useless if your lucky and feed if your not.

This has a couple of counter effects too. People have been INCREDIBLY rude to Kindred players who are trying to actually learn the champ properly. Dumping all over them for very minor mistakes. Or, bringing up my second point, getting counter jungled. Since release the only champs I've seen go jungle are : Kindred LeeSin Udyr Sejuani and MasterYi ... Kindred, and champs she can't 1 v 1 in the early game. Then the enemy jungle spams crap like: "Screw you Noob" "Weak ass champ!" "Whole Jungle is mine!" ect... Real winners that bunch.... Taking their jg main to harass someone playing a new champ... real winners. :P

Honestly the color of the marks are just unclear. The only real thing you have to remember is that your marks spawn on the enemy camps. Course after a while people will get used to it, it's just weird they didn't make your marks blue and the enemy marks red.
