Two seasons ago, I was new to ranked and went 6-4 and placed in Silver 4. Last season I went 5-5 and placed in Bronze 5. This season I went 7-3 and placed in Bronze 4. Nothing about your ranking placement system makes any sense. I guess I'll just climb back to Silver for the third season in a row. Perhaps you use the Random Number Generator to place people? SKT T1 Win1 votesYour never going to go up in the ranked reset placements. If your a fresh account thats the initial placement and everything after that is a reset based off your mmr.
xXSomeoneElse1 votesit pretty much goes off your MMR your placement matches have slight to no difference from normal ranked games and your total MMR at the the end of those 10 games (adding or subtracting from your previous MMR) will determine the division your placed into, but its true that if you truly belong in say silver or gold you will rise quickly because your opponents will be less skilled than you (true in some cases, some teams just aren't carryable)

This... The placement is seriously fked up (S2->B3 after 4:6 W:L, out of the 10 games, I had 2x afk, Teemo stealthed in the middle whole game, 2x feeder), but hey I manned up. But when you barely hold in lane (ex. Gold adc vs. me), but never die and match the CS... only to see that their top is 6/0 and mid the same? How the hell am I supposed to carry that...
xXSomeoneElse2 votesman you're telling me, I never thought what they said about Bronze players was 100% true but after this seasons placements when I went from Silver last season to bronze IV this season, for the first time ever I saw a rumble jungle, a twisted fate top, a renekton nasus bot lane, a sivir jungle and a teemo "roamer" (like a 2nd jg) and all did terribly like 0-20 status. I almost give up on trying to climb out of this hell xD Silver was bad but nowhere near this bad xD

I was silver 2 with 83 points last season. Winning most of my games.
Placements I don't do too hot, winning 4/10.
However given that it was a 'soft' reset, I would've expected at worst silver 4 or 5.
But Bronze 3? Why does that make any sense? That would mean I'd need to lose at least 20 games in ladders during non-placements. Really annoyed.

It's more that Riot says one thing (soft reset) and then some people seem to get a hard reset based soley on placements. If no one mentioned the issue on forums then Riot would have no idea that this is going on. Not sure if they're interested much, but it's frustrating.
