@Riot Why design Kench with the ability to go top if you cut off his main source of dmg

With the current changes on PBE you make him a really useless walking zhonyas without any real dmg capabilites -> personal opinion No longer scalling dmg from Ult -> really mediocre and situational dmg from passive.....

It's actually a huge buff to top lane Tahm Kench's early game damage. In exchange that damage falls off in the late game if/when he builds full tank so he can't destroy everything in his path anymore.

Edit: "Huge" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but he still has more damage up until level 11 in extended trades.

Well the passive damage still scales, just not as hard. The "situational dmg" is the applied the same as his current ult damage btw, except that W no longer applies it. Its been a while since I have played Kench but I believe his aa's are hitting with his tongue (so would apply the 1% max health damage) not his fist, along with of course his Q. It also appears to be scaling off max health instead of bonus health now, but I could be wrong.

Disregard what I said.

The damage only applies when the enemy has max stacks of Acquired Taste, and getting full stacks bottom without needing to activate W is pretty much nonexistent.

I think you got that backwards. The damage applies as you are stacking Acquired Taste- once you have 3 stacks it no longer applies and instead your Q and W get "empowered", which I'm guessing remains the same as current (Q stuns and you can eat with W).

Yeah, I think I may have colossally read it wrong or else they changed it since I looked at the S@20 page earlier today.

He just has earlier access to his ult passive dmg is all. If anything this should help prevent him KSing the adc which he is oft prone to do.

Edit:if anything they buffed his top by putting the E cooldown to 6sec from 16. That would allow more trades/fights that you can walk away from and heal off your gray health more often.

They seem to be pushing him towards all-in type trades instead of poking with Q and getting the passive damage off. His sustain is actually worse because you get less grey health than before and you only heal off of your grey health gained. Its 25-45% health back from 70-90% damage sustained. It used to be 100% damage sustained.

The more I think about it, the more damage he will actually have on his passive, HOWEVER, its geared more towards having 3 stacks on them and maintaining them. This means devouring an enemy champion resets your damage :(

Most people kinda sucked at the frog anyways. You almost never saw two-man ults.

the passive changes might be better in a 1v1, but trying to aa and q everyone in a team fight is pretty hard. honestly id rather rito just not touch tahms passive and ult passive, theyre in an ok spot and theyre the things that give him his power. to put it simply, u can either aa someone once to do 1% of ur total hp as dmg, which can stack to 3% on the SAME target. or, you can keep it as is where you deal 2-6% of your bonus hp with every aa and ability (much better)
