Is there even a reason to pick Elise over Nidalee?

I recently bought Elise because I basically wanted to and I like her character/design etc. But gameplay wise Nidalee basically has everything Elise wants and more. I don't know how the clear times compare but both are probably decent if not Nidalee is somewhat better. You cant pick Elise for the sustain reason because Nidalee has a heal that is stupidly good and can be casted on your teammates/ your ADC. You can argue Elise has a stun to set up kills but Nidalee can basically go in for a kill if a spear lands or just keep sniping people with them. Elise's % health damage isn't better than Nidalee's execute damage as well. All of this tied with her cancerous ability to use cougar jumps every 1.5 to 2 seconds means she is better at chasing and escaping. We all know Elise still needs help and Riot is neglecting giving her the buffs she deserves to dig herself out of the Nerf hole but why is Nidalee getting a free pass? I don't how Nidalee can always be a problematic champion that does the same stuff even if "nerfed". If Riot doesn't want to nerf her they will have to Buff other junglers to compete if you ask me.

I bought Elise because her abilities and everything looked cool. After I played her a couple times I wanted to lock her in a box and throw her into an ocean.

Two disjointed champions with no clear identity. But Elise has shit numbers and Nidalee has retarded numbers. As such Nidalee is strong and Elise is weak.

Not really.

Elise is outclassed in damage, mobility, and sustain. The only consolation Elise gets is that her kit works better if you go bruiser or tank due to the innate % health damage scalings.

thats because most elise players build full tank with no magic pen whatsoever.. I seriously think that Elise outdamages Nid. Match a 600 ap elise and a 600 ap nid vs a sejuani.. we'll see who kills sej faster

5.14 Patch is why you want Elise. 1.6 second stun on level 1 E. That's enough to warrant taking Elise over Nidalee. Nidalee requires your laner to land some CC or the opponent to be completely out of position to pull off a successful gank early. Elise doesn't really need either of those things to blow a Flash minimum when ganking. Elise is going to be one of the top junglers after patch 5.14 in pro play. I promise.

Right now you are better off picking Nidalee because she is quite good whereas Elise is quite bad, but their kits aren't that similar so they offer a fair few different things. Here's what's unique to Elise:

  • CC. Cocoon makes Elise outright better at picking people off than Nidalee is. Javelin Toss is SIMILAR but Cocoon is faster and wider and your team can follow up on it a thousand times better than they can on a Javelin Toss. Cocoon is an amazingly powerful ability.
  • More reliable ganks. Elise has a lot of tools that are great in ganks so that even if she misses a Cocoon it is not always worthless to go in. You can also do weird things like starting the gank in spider form so you can Rappel directly onto someone and Cocoon from there. Because Nidalee's kit rewards her keeping a long distance before initiation, she doesn't have this same flexibility. Elise is a far, far better ganker.
  • Clear is smoother. This isn't so much a power thing but I really hate Nidalee's clear because of the constant need to form swap and burst healing just doesn't feel like good sustain in the jungle. Elise's constant DPS in spider form is much better suited to the jungle, as is her consistent healing. Plus, after she gets even a moderate amount of AP she clears camps at the speed of light.

After that things get a bit iffy but Elise has the ability to be a (pretty crappy) Tank Fizz/Irelia etc when she needs to build tank. She's not great at it but if you want an early pressure jungler who can form a frontline later, Elise is gonna suit you a million times better than Nidalee will. Then you get weird stuff like "AP Elise kills towers just as quickly as she clears jungle camps" and so on.

They're honestly not that similar. The only reason it's hard to justify picking Elise at the mo is because she's terrible.

I mean I get Elise isn't in the best state, but I don't see how either of them are alike at all to where a comparison can form.
