This wouldn't have any real relevance until late game practically full build part of the game. What if you could pay 1000 gold or something to combine two items into a single item slot. No stat gains but now you have another item slot open again.

Weird, I didn't know tank's defense scaled on 4 different stats. Or that any form of health stacking + armor pen exists.
