What are Dianas Strong points? She's Mild In All Respects.

D1rtFarmer··4 votes·1,358 views

Weak dmg, Expensive combo's, Zero escape, High Cd's. The Pros? She was my favorite. Cons? Outclassed. In all respects.

Obviously her kit is waaaay to dangerous to "tamper" with when you have champs like zed akali n LB on the loose.

Her strong point is that if she gets fed, she's a tank/assassin/fighter/bruiser/burst/DPS champ. Sort of like Poppy.

Her weak point is that if she doesn't become the goddess of battle by getting ahead, she's a below average pick. Feast or famine.

Riot has stated that they don't care for feast or famine playstyles, which is why a certain pigtailed Yordle is on deck for an overhaul, and I'm guessing they'll get to Diana eventually. Someday. Probably around patch 6.18 if it's Riot's idea of "soon".

Leblanc Fizz Talon Fiora Shaco RIP Feast or Famine champs.

Doesn't rely on any long CD's meaning she can skirmish much more frequently.

Her kit is a mis-match of different role damage styles.

Her passive and W would be great on a durable fighter, getting strong AoE consistent damage for being in a fight attacking for a long time.

Her Q/R are good for burst damage styles, killing a target quickly before they can retaliate.

When one of those play patterns works well enough, the existence of the other even if it's weaker pushes her far above. So if Diana can be played as a 100-0 burster, she can then stand strong against her counters of durable fighters with her own durable fighter qualities. If her durable fighter quality is strong, she can occasionally burst squishies for a large majority of their health and negate her other counter.

Instead, they kept her weak on both fronts, so she isn't exceptional at anything.

I don't see a lot of diana, and maybe this is just a by-product of only seeing the really pro ones, but it always feels like her single target all in is 100% unavoidable death.

Again, though, this might just be me noticing it more once she's already fed, and I'm certainly not saying she's an OP or even strong pick, just saying she feels like she has perfectly strong burst.

D1rtFarmer1 votes

that would have to be consistent for mostly all fed champs in the game though, aside from being fed she's really awful to play. even when she was considered OP she still wasnt being picked. There were soooo many akalis and kats at the time...

Arveanor2 votes

shrug I'm not saying anything about her balance, just saying she seems to lay down a pretty solid burst.

Diana's numbers are bad because riot didn't like her deleting the backrow with zero counterplay if she landed a Q.

She was supposed to be a sustained damage bruiser with a bit of burst, to be used in top lane, but people started playing her mid as an assassin, then doing a Q-R-Auto-Zhonya-Q-R-R combo to delete carries.

Spiritflare8682 votes

I see too many people thinking she should be a mid-assassin but she plays much more like a toplane/jungle fighter/battle mage

King Lagii1 votes

Well, I'm not sure how to feel about it, since I win lane against those three champions all the time with her. Pros versatility (she can be tanky, bursty, or simply a bruiser. However your feelin' for the day.) safety (Losing lane? Farm with Q)

Cons melee (Tends to cause problems when the 5v5's roll out.) high mana cost (That E likes to take chunks)

Her damage is nice her combo isn't really that expensive. It 285 for Q > W > R > E > R at level 6. That is fairly priced since in most cases, I don't need to burn my E for my combos. Lets not mention that Leblanc and Ahri both need 300 mana to use their combos, though. Lordy 285 is expensive. Her R can be applied as an escape depending on positioning. Talon needs a rework, he has no escapes either. Her CD's aren't that high. Her Q is 6 when maxed, and her R sits at 15 when maxed, not mentioning her R actually resets if she hit her target with a Q before going in. But that is pretty high come to think of it.

She is one of my favorites, actually, I mained her in this past season. Sure she can seem underwhelming when you aren't used to her, but she is fully capable of holding her own and being of value to her team, and she is certainly not outclassed in all respects. RIP any Fizz that picks a fight with her.

I can agree with some, i only say some because i let her go for a season however, i find that her full combo is completely unable to kill in the same respects as a full Leblanc or a full Ahri combo, then she is again Stuck due to her offensive skills also being her defensive, if that makes any sense (her shield and slow)... assuming the opponent is aware her Ulti is a dash, and shes coming in a direct path. and She wishes to reset this dash she must land her Q in order to make anything meaningful happen (small window). I used to main diana and she was certainly my goto for a win. After the nerf, i agree she remained versatile i do also find her to be sub par in all categories and excel in none. Thanks for responding.

Well given the fact that Diana is an AP bruiser rather than an AP assassin like our two examples, her full combo won't be as intimidating. Still, unlike Leblanc or Ahri, Diana can easily survive being in the center of the fight, even if she is caught out or focused.

D1rtFarmer1 votes

ap bruiser is such a silly title dont you agree. shes just an akali/kat lacking kill potential. nothing over the top in damage tankyness, mobility, safety risk/reward. none of the above, probably the most mana hungry champ in the game/ least impressive.

King Lagii1 votes

Except that she's not mana hungry. No matter how I look at it, I can't manage to figure out how a 50 mana ulti (even if you can get multiple casts in) is expensive? want expensive? look at Kassadin. she is actually especially mobile, considering your application of your Q and R effectively. Using those is similar to lee sin Q except on a shorter cd and easier to land. Sure she's not over the top in tankiness, but neither is Gnar, and he's classified as a bruiser. He has his GNAR!!! bar that can make him tanky, well, Diana has a really strong shield that can likewise make her tanky. She doesn't have high risk, high reward gameplay because as an AP champion, her damage is ridiculously consistent. Her passive puts her over the top against a lot of other melee champions she would find herself against, not even mentioning the different applications of her E.

D1rtFarmer1 votes

you're talking about 50 mana, while thats not the extent nor the damage dealer in dianas combo, her ulti is notably weak as ever.. while her mana pool is drained attempting to "bruise" somebody with the expensive q, which is obvious seeing how short the range is, it curves but one direction and it moves very slow late game, making you superbly predictable.. Diana is a trash tier champ unless well coordinated with a ranked team. Her level of enjoyment is low vs the effort to accomplish simple tasks.

King Lagii1 votes

"Expensive Q"...you realize her Q is a constant 55? But let's not forget that that is expensive. Ahri Q must be a monster with it's 75 mana cost. Sorry, not trying to be rude, but seriously, Diana only expensive spell is her E until her Q is maxed and she starts workin' on her W. Diana is actually a very mana efficient champ when you compare her to her competitors in mid lane.

D1rtFarmer1 votes

lets look at the fact that dianas q is only useful in last hitting or in conjunction with the ulti.. thats 100plus for something ahris q can do with one cast.. its not a poke tool, or you'll run out of mana without any damage being done

King Lagii1 votes

It's obvious we are never going to reach an agreement. I have never had problems with my mana on Diana, regardless of if I am poking heavy or just last hitting. I can also confidently say that I have won most my lanes as Diana. If you believe she is mediocre in all regards I won't say your wrong, but it certainly won't be how I see it.

Zamiake1 votes

she can lock ppl down long enough for team to push on them and lock them down even more. She also does a mild amount of damage with some tankyness to help her survive the engage. thats about all. not the best champion at all

SmokingPuffin1 votes

She has really good jungle clears.

Mostly she's undertuned because Riot doesn't like the way she makes a kill, then is too tanky to counterattack, if she's doing well.

MAZZ1M01 votes

Build her as a fighter rather than an mage and you'll be fine. Her AA will get you the most damage. I use her in the jungle. R, then E, and W. It makes for great ganks. Max W first. Your jungle clears will be hilariously easy. As for the items, that can vary, but I usually go Stalker's Magus > Nashor's Tooth > Mercury's Treads > Randuin's Omen > Banshee's Veil > Lich Bane or Zhonya's Hourglass You get a huge powerspike with Nashor's. Then just R into their faces and wreck them all with your passive auto and W. Oddly enough, as much as the jungle has had the opposite effect of what was intended, Diana's jungle strengths seem to be highlighted now. Like wtf, but hey, at least someone other than Lee Sin didn't get the short end of the stick. Rek'Sai doesn't count because she's new.

She has by far the highest AP scaling ability/auto proc rotation in the game, which without cdr she can utilize every 15 seconds. This is with one of her skills being only utility and the other half utility. I agree that her role is not well defined and itemization might not fit perfectly with her kit, but she has a lot in her kit and is by no means underpowered.

Also wtf try using her ultimate on a minion to escape, you know, like akali does.

D1rtFarmer1 votes

yet she lacks kill power, and you're assuming u have vision of the minion or the mana to do so.. you forget diana has enough for her combo ONE and a half times mostly.

Highest AP scaling in the game. Lacks kill power. Makes sense.

D1rtFarmer1 votes

scaling doesnt suggest actual values.. it just means her scaling by ratio makes the biggest leaps, yes? and on that note...her in game damage is lacking.. every champ i play is better than her on all fronts..doing things they nerfed her for doing.. and some of them do it without any resource cost at all.. how is akali still better at diana at everything and shes a midlaner?

KidKaiser1 votes

that REW Zhonya's tho. if you landed a Q beforehand. even better.

need a fast engage cuz the enemy is grouped?! skip the Q and just REW Zhonya's. kill what you can then hit objectives.

and Nashor's work wonders with her. just grab Stinger and hold it, i like to rush my Zhonya's.
