Is Zed OverPlayed Because He's OP?
Mainly he is too safe.. and he is now overplayed. which is the trend of op champs.

Of course it is because he is OP. Champions don't show up as often as he does in pro play without being overpowered. He simply has too much damage given his mobility, waveclear, and manaless resource. He outclasses champions like talon, akali and fiora in every realistic situation in league.
Too True.. Finally somebody who is speaking sensible.
It's very hard to take what you say seriously when you are trying to argue that Zed is OP. Zed is the most counterable champion in the game right now, to the extent that I feel bad for every Zed main out there. Zed ulting you? No problem, zhonya's. Zed ulted you and you are an ad champion? No problem, Mercurial scimitar. Zed ulted you and you are a tank? If you have randuin's omen and sunfire cape, you won't die (and he probably will, because you probably have CC if you are a tank).
The most "counterable" champion in the game woudlnt be in EVERY OTHER FUCKING GAME I PLAY.
Sorry, its just so infurating to literally... yes LITERALLY see Zed in 1 out of 2 games. ONLY overpowered champions get such ridiculous pick rates especially in a lane that has 70 CHOICES.
I don't see Zed all that often tbh. Again, if you know what you are doing, it's very easy to deal with Zed.
Everyone and their mother is playing Zed, yet he "very easy" to deal with. Im sure one of the highest picked champions in the entire LoL is a "chump" to counter. Im sure everyone loves playing a champion they always lose with... right?
Let me guess insert super obvious things like "build armor and buy hourglass" as if armor/mr isnt standard against EVERY champion, and hourglass counters the abilitys of EVERY champion.
Yeah actually that sounds about right. Zed is very easy to counter. Agree with Clickhead and don't see what everyone's whining about. Certain champions are good in some situations and bad in others. Zed is no different. Learn his counters and he's not a threat.
Top ban in Korea says otherwise.
I guess the koreans dont know how to counter Zed either then.
Guess not. I have no problem against him here in NA!
zhonyas counters these champions in full or in part.
and i'm sure there are more.
zhonyas isn't a champion weakness, it's just a strong item that counters a lot of the cast.
i could make the same argument for QSS/Mercurial.
i think you underestimate zeds build path because he can pop full tanks as well.
Zed isn't op if you actually make an attempt to try to counter him. A bunch of champions actually counter zed like kayle and lissandra and talon. Its your fault if you pick an extremely squishy champ it your fault if you don't build against him. Zed has high cooldowns and he can only kill 1 target, so yeah he's op, he's killing the adc every 80 seconds with his ult and escaping with his shadows. Talon actually has a better pentakill chance than zed due to his massive aoe w and ult.
talon countering zed...yea, we saw in worlds how that went, and he still has his silence at worlds... Zed isn't easy to play, but if u know what u do he becomes op. There is a reason for his dominance at worlds...
Though this is exactly the problem...there are some ways to counter him, making him a risky early pick vs good teams - but if you don´t hardcounter him he will be able to solocarry the game. And even if you counter him a good team can play around that and just use Zed as a sort of bait.
So wait... were going to use this excuse again.
A champion is not OP if there is a couple champions that can counter him. LOL no champion has ever been OP in this game. Im sure Kayle counters them all with her ultimate.
-47/48% win-rate is OP now? -2 viable items completely countering him, one of which is literally built by every single AP champion in the game, makes him OP? -80% of his burst being on a single target long-cooldown R makes him OP?
I seriously question the logic of people like you
Leblanc was nerfed for being overpowered at 44% win rate.
Hourglass counters almost every single ultimate in the game.
Zed is overpowered because he has everything in his kit. Long story short, hes a wave clearing/safe farming /ungankable ASSASSIN which makes him fundamentally broken.
he isnt op he's overplayed cause lcs players used him what about him makes him safe? he has practically the smallest dash in game oh and let me guess what your saying he's op a good zed was able to deal tons of damage to 1 single target like any other assassin and make his escape wow an assassin can assassinate a squishy that does seem op thats pretty much what fizz ahri talon and many other champions can do and every single champion in teh assassin class can do it too
Having his shadow as an escape is only part of the reason why Zed would be considered safe. His shadow also allows him to be able to farm and harass from a distance which limits his risk of getting punished for trying to CS by a fair bit.
And, i have seen Zed's wipe solo a complete team, not all with full health, but tanks/fighters had complete heal...no skill involved... just go invulnerable... walk a lil under tower..flash...use one shadow... use the other....way too many escapes, and way too much damage to everyone...not 1 single target... the video was posted like yesterday..or somewhere this week, and is not the only case this has happened... I myself consider me a noob (ye gold V..elo hell)... but have done pentas without maining Zed or having an actual idea of wtf am I doing, unlike Ahri, where i think every move, since losing my ult as Ahri means you fking screwedif their bruisers gets you..zed doesnt have these problems... he is too safe to be played in lane, and also gank is pretty easy... no need to aim anything.. no skill involved in tapping your keyboard as energy will regenerate pretty fast
Because he's flashy and makes cool plays.
"Because He's OP?"
I stopped reading here.

Exactly... overpowered.
Why does an assassin have mobility/safety, waveclear, and safe farming? Fundamentally broken.
He has way too much damage for a way too safe champ that is where it is broken...
He's overplayed because people still haven't gotten over that Faker vs. Ryu highlight video.
Nah I think he is overplayed because people like to make #LCSBigPlays just like Lee Sin was
I don't know. You want to call him OP? I guess it wouldn't be really far from truth. There are some aspect of Zed that make him so popular in competitive and soloQ .
He's an excellent farmer thanks to AoE spells that have small energy costs, and make him able to cs efficiently even when the enemy laner puts on a decent aggression. His mobility and safe escape options make him an excellent roamer, as he has excellent ways to get out after getting a kill, where champions like Akali, Talon or Rengar would have to rely on their team to prolonge the fight until they are safe. His ultimate combo is almost a sure kill in terms of damage (even against full health) thanks to a synergy with Botrk (as Death Mark reapplies a % of the damage you dealt with each basic attack. Of course, it also reapplies the damage such as Spellblade, but the great aspect of Death Mark +Botrk is that it also reapplies the Active damage. ) This forces players to build Zhonya's , QSS, or being above 200 Armor to absorb his burst, which, alone, puts a lot of pressure into cornering opponents into specific builds.
EDIT: Actually , the only thing that prevents Zed from being hit by a wild swing of the nerfbat is that QSS and Zhonya's aren't totally worthless items.
zhonyas counters these champions in full or in part.
and there are others i'm sure.
zhonyas isn't a champion weakness, it's just a strong item that counters a lot of the cast. i could make the same argument for QSS.
yeah. QSS counters Malzahar a lot but he doesn't get to switch position with his voidlings as compensation.
right, thats because QSS isn't a champion weakness, just like Zhonyas isn't. if QSS and Zhonyas are the only reason zed isn't being nerfed thats some grade A BS there.
Idk... I play him because he is fun, not because I perceive him as OP.
At least with Zed if you mess up, you don't really do much. He's a pretty risky champ outside of lane phase.
Being able to trade places with two different shadows sure is "risky". If you "mess up" you switch places with a shadow 1000 range away... big whoop.
Zed is not op at all he's got a very counter-able burst combo that will 1 shot you if you don't build against it...but his burst is delayed by like 3 seconds i forgot how long the death mark is, but it is very predictable. The reason he is played a lot right now is because he's a very safe pick in the mid lane with all of the poke heavy mid-laners right now. Zed is the most balanced assassin in the game right now... the only reason being is that he can be countered by everyone on the enemy team if needed.
rofl balanced?, no balance at all, you can have a zed 0 kills against you 4 kills, but whenever he start ganking, getting 1 or 2 kills he comes back and voila, indestructilble 1 burst and your down, since he does not aim once he has used his ult, just tap as fast as you can all skills near your enemy, not to mention he can spam skills to poke you since energy will regenrate by the time Q CD ends, and his dash makes him ungankeable... it has way too low cd for a skill that gives you double range and also is an escape...plus the shadow generate by the ult, too much mobility, with too much burst, with also too much sustained dmg... yeah i call that bs, they need to either nerf his mobility or his dmg
I'm pretty sure Zed is currently over played because of recent Zed hype in WCS. Zed is a fun champion so I can see why he gets a lot of play time
It depends on what perspective you are looking from. He is played because he is one of the assassins with an escape mechanic. Also popular pro players use him, so that helps with making people play him. I personally feel he is played a lot because not only is he strong, but he is fun to play for the person playing him. Making play or outplays on champions feels even more rewarding for a lot of people (me included) and he is one of the champions who is able to do it. Its like playing Lee Sin or Thresh, where you have a lot of ways to do something so you feel that much more impactful when you do them.
In terms of his role (burst assassin) I actually think he's one of the best designs, there's a ton of counterplay to his rotations and cool stuff there, the part where he's a little too strong (IMO) is his laning because when you give an assassin a very safe lane with strong wave clear it means you can never really shut them down, they'll just reach their item spikes a little later or sooner depending.
Manaless harass in lane is pretty annoying, on Akali (who has her issues don't get me wrong) it's balanced because her Q doesn't do a whole lot unless you melee her pre-6 like an idiot, on Talon it's balanced because he has mana, Zed is a pain because his harass has no cost and crazy high range. That and his excellent wave clear means he's gonna be S-tier for a long time because it's very difficult to shut him down and he can just push and go roam whenever he wants.
In general assassins should have a weak laning phase, or at least some kind of weakness during laning, because they are usually strong on every other front. Zed doesn't have this which is where the complaints come from I think.
Zed is the pen-ultimate Duelist assassin.
The game shifted out of split pushing, dueling, and assassin's for a while.
It shifted back into them, and Zed returns.
Zed isn't OP, he has clear definitive weaknesses -- NOW (S3 Worlds he did NOT)
Riot seems to have an idea of the problem with League currently based on their recent statement regarding alternative strategies. Right now, teams do their best to bypass the laning phase and make it to the mid-game where they execute either "Deathball" or "Split Push" Currently "Deathball" is the most effective, with Zed being one of the best for "Split Push" and being passable in a "Deathball". Since there aren't really any other effective strategies worth playing, they champions best at the two dominant strategies seem exceedingly OP.
Alistar, Maokai, Ryze, Khazix.... all the most picked champions are crazy good in deathball compositions.
Teams have gotten better at dealing with Pick compositions, so we see less and less of those compositions. (Thresh remains as he works with EVERY composition in existence)
Any luck we'll see items to support other strategies other than "smash your face into their face HARDER"
What is Zeds weakness?
High damage, safety, mobility, high burst, immune to jungler ganks, energy resource. Low cds spam.
What exactly is Zeds weakness?
Of course.
Go ahead and check every single history of Overpowered champions for the last 4 years. You will see 99.999999999% of them were Fotm/very high pick rates.
Zed is OP and people are just abusing it atm.
all theses champs, summoner spells and items counter zed if u arent even trying to dodge his dmg or counter him then ya hes op but thats your fault
ive been a zed main for very long ik the stuggles and the perks but i tell you that he is balenced not op
( btw im sure theres more that counter him i just cant think of it right now)
1 year old thread.
