So, instead of nerfing thunderlords, you just buff the hell out of everything else?

Like, how could you fuck this up? It was an easy nerf solution and you literally went full retard on it and rather than just NERFING thunderlords you just tried to make everything else equally broken. I don't understand. Why? Why would you choose to do this?

Have you ever considered that thunderlord's was the only keystone that was worth a damn, and that everything else was crap? The whole point of these keystones was that each one would have a significant impact to how you played each match. Thunderlord's was the only keystone that succeeded in that regard, with all other keystones being crap.

It could also be the fact that all of the popular FotM champions are all about early game power through combos, and thunderlord's is literally tailored for such a play style.

Tell that to my Grasp of the Undying Shen (prework of course). So much more powerful than thunderlord's would ever be.

Maybe all the keystones being equally game-changing is the whole point?

You do realize Thunderlord's is balanced in what it is meant to do, yes? The issue was the under performance of the other keystones.

How could you fuck up your thought process so much?

There are edge cases. Morg shouldn't be able to proc TLD just by placing W on someone for less than a second. Or even just ticks of ignite. It really should have to be proced by unique spells (3 autos is fine.)

Even though Lucian Q-auto is virtually instant TLD, it's still in the spirit of the mastery. How is Heimerdinger hitting all 5 of his rockets like normal or placing a single turret anything like that? These are the kind of edge cases that should be removed.

For that reason, TLD isn't balanced, but that by no means implies TLD itself should be nerfed. Just nerfed in those cases with the above change.

Riot thinks the level of satisfaction that Thunderlord's gives for picking it is the desirable goalpost and wants to see what happens when they make the other keystones feel more impactful, then see how Thunderlord's stands in comparison at that point.

I don't agree with the value of this direction personally, but that's the reason for this change and the impetus behind much of the mastery rework. To make choosing masteries feel more important viscerally and less of a stat calculation.

"While Thunderlord's Decree is the go-to mastery when you're looking to dominate your lane, we're leaving it as-is for a few reasons. First, we're looking to it as a 'goalpost' from which we balance the other keystones around. It's something you can easily play around, has a good amount of impact, and synergises well with certain champion kits. Additionally, we're avoiding playing 'whack-a-mole' with the Keystones (ie: just nerfing whichever is best at any given moment). By recognising TD's strength and matching others to it, we build a better ecosystem for Keystones where you're free to adapt your builds, rather than just playing champions that abuse the best mastery.

So how are we tipping the scales? Injecting some strength back into Ferocity's Keystones while reverting buffs to Precision should help balance things out, no matter how you seek to deal your damage. Toss in a pretty spicy update to Stormraider's Surge and you have a wealth of options at your disposal. It's still possible that Thunderlord's is over-tuned after all this, but bringing the others more in line with the leader should help us gauge how big the discrepancy is, rather than just cutting down the top over and over again."

This should explain it. I bold-italicized the most important parts.

Thunderlords truly is the only Good keystone. All the others suck really.

Sometimes something being too dominant can be down to other things being too weak rather than the best thing being too strong. This is one of those times.
