Making Yasuo Something More Interesting Than Just Another Assassin
Let me start by saying that I think Yasuo is a pretty cool champ, mechanically and thematically. Wind wall is awesome, the hyper-mobility limited by creeps is a cool dynamic, and his flow shield creates interesting laning. The problem with Yasuo, though, is that his ult and his double crit passive make him into a super strong assassin, and everything else has to be nerfed around that.
Yasuo's ult allows him to assassinate a target with little to no risk in the setup. The teams tank can wade through their front line, hit the carry in question with a knockup, and suddenly Yasuo (if it looks like a good situation for him to go in) ults in on the carry and then double taps them with an auto attack-steel tempest combo, both of which are guaranteed to crit and turn that squishy into squishy goo.
And ironically, almost everything in Yasuo's kit has been nerfed except for his ult and his double crit passive, the two things that encourage this assassin playstyle.
If Riot wants to leave him as an assassin, so be it, but I'd like to see them push Yasuo's towards a more interesting front line melee carry role.
Here's what I'd like to see:
Stats: Base movespeed increased to 350
Passive:
INTENT: Yasuo's critical strike chance is doubled, but the damage dealt by his critical strikes is reduced by 10% (25% on Steel Tempest).- RESOLVE: Increase duration from 1 second to **1.5 **seconds, shield strength increased from 60-470 to 60-580.
Steel Tempest
- As is.
Wind Wall
- Return 4 / 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 % flow generation from dashing
- Reduce cooldown to 24 / 22 / 20 / 18 / 16
Sweeping Blade
- As is.
Last Breath
- NEW PASSIVE: Yasuo's auto attacks deal 8% of the targets maximum HP as bonus physical damage.
- Reduce range to point blank 300 radius AOE.
- No longer requires a knockup to be cast.
- Knocks up and damages champions for 1 second. Last Breath's passive damage is doubled against all targets for the next 10 seconds.
I'm not sure on all the numbers, and there might have to be some power added or taken away from various pieces to make it balanced. Regardless, I think a kit like this, or at least in the same vein as this, would allow Yasuo to use flow shields, mobility, and wind wall to protect himself from the enemy backline as he shredded through the enemy tanks, but would force him actually get into the fight to do it rather than just being able to sit in the backline and ult onto the carries as soon as his tank gets a good engage.
That sounds way more interesting to me than current Yasuo.
