I feel like unlocked camera heavily impairs my mechanics.

So i've got to p3 with locked camera and for months ive been trying unlocked and i have around 300-ish games with it and i feel like it just makes me worse. With unlocked I find it harder to trade, cs and kite and making it harder to focus and the only benefit is making some skills easier to land. With locked i was able to have pretty good mechanics and decent vision with dragging the camera with the minimap but with unlocked it just seems to make everything much more difficult with very little benefit. How am i suppose to get all the unlocked benefits.

Can't you do both? That's how I do it. Like, I don't use locked screen when my screen would move too erratically (Riven, ADCs, etc.) because I would misclick minions, the ground, or wards.

I bind the lock/unlock to my spacebar, I play around 60-70% locked as a total guess. It being on space makes it so fluid to switch back and forth so I truly have no clue how much the split really is.

My keyboard also has 'G' keys, typically for macros, which allow me to pan through my team. When I can I'll space, pan through team, space again to return to my character.

I wish I could help you but I cannot. I have played for seven years with my camera unlocked. I tried it with locked once and It messed me up so bad.

I don't know how anybody plays with locked. Ever since I started I fucking hated that feeling where you have no control of your vision

if you can't play unlocked then don't play unlocked. It's not an instant transition, you have to get used to it. Watch a pro stream and watch how they handle their camera; copy them.

I do a mix of both. I leave the camera unlocked. Then I hold the spacebar to lock onto my character. Being unlocked allows me further sight range, and greater map awareness. Using the spacebar means I can always find myself.
