A little love for the bug (Kha'Zix change ideas)
Now Kha'Zix has been having identity issues for a while now and nobody really knows how to play well since the removal of the DR on his ultimate. Personally I don't want to see old Kha' come back, to be honest he was kind of toxic. However I think there needs to be a look into his core identity and adjustments need to be made to realign his gameplay with who he is as a champion.
To me his identity is described by his mantra, "Consume and adapt," which to me means he should be geared more towards the mid-late game. His old lore (don't know which parts if any are still canon) suggests a similar pattern with him being pretty weak then coming to be powerful enough to fight evenly with Rengar.
Also the core mechanic of his kit is Isolation. Kha'Zix does not like fighting enemies when they have friends around. This mechanic is where I think the Kha'Zix's kit should be tuned around. His play pattern should be to "Isolate and devour". A Kha'Zix player should have everything they need to do just that. If an ADC is walking alone in the jungle, even now Kha' could leap on and kill them without much problem. Yet that same scenario plays out in bot lane a bit differently. Level 18 Kha' leaps on a level 16 Caitlyn and she kills him because she was in a crowd of minions.
The solution is simple. Buff Kha' so minions, after reaching a certain level, no longer count as units for isolation bonus. Now I know there are a lot of players thinking, "But then Kha'Zix will be able to stop almost every split pusher." I mean is that really a bad thing? Riot just buffed split pushers last patch when they took the slow and damage reduction from inhibitor turrets.
The next change I want to propose is that Evolving his Ult also decreases the range of his isolation bonus. This allows for good Kha'Zix players to capitalize on short windows of opportunities where squishies step out of position. Below I will simplify the changes as they would appear in his kit.
Evolved Enlarged Claws Increases the range of both Taste Their Fear (375 total range) and Kha'Zix's basic attacks (175 total range) by 50-units. Isolation bonus also ignore minions.
Evolved Active Camouflage Allows Void Assault to be cast up to three times and the stealth duration is increased by 1 second (total 2 seconds). Lowers the Range of Isolation by X-units.
Adding these two things to his evolved Q and R solidifies his assassin playstyle. It also doesn't take away from his backup playstyle in evolving W for poke damage, though some may argue it should be able to cast during E. Please post your thoughts and help start a discussion on our favorite bug.
