A Sad Reality of League's New Lore

It's simply too late. I had faith that the narrative team would be able to deliver something amazing, that would make the wait worthwhile. However I don't feel like it's even possible anymore. The wounds are too deep after the short bios of Graves TF and GP were added to the PBE. I want to believe that I'm wrong and they've created something better than anything I could imagine, but i just don't see that happening across the board for all the champions whose pasts they've gutted.

After reading other posts on this board I've come to the realization that the secrecy of Jaredan and the rest of the narrative team is what caused the divide. Its a lot harder to keep faith in someone for almost a year, when all they do is say "trust that something more is coming, but in the meanwhile, here's a short bio". It doesn't work like that. Trust is something that is built, and without communication or transparency there is no foundation for it to be built.

With each short bio, the fans die a little inside. There's a sense of fear for the aspects of a champion's story might be gone forever. The short bios tend to pose more questions than it solves, and with no clear indicator that more is coming other than the usual trademarked "Soon" the promises are empty.

I understand that the technology to support the vision of the Narrative team might not be ready yet, which is fine. However what I don't understand is why the team simply cannot tell us a story worth hearing until this day. I really hope Jaredan sees this thread and understands that I only wish to express where I feel the team has room for improvement and ways to improve their efforts in the future.

It's simply too late.

Unless you're like me and are just sitting around being like "I'm fine waiting, I'm a patient dude. Real fucking patient."

Meh, Jaredan said there would be some cool narrative stuff coming out by the end of this summer. I'll be patient until then at least.

If they had anything to give more than all flash and no substance, they ought to have given us the details of the new setting which replaces the core elements they ripped out. Until they explain to me why their world is still there and not ripped apart from the next runewar I remain my stance that this entire thing is a poor idea both in conception and excecution.

"Technical issues" could not have stopped them releasing the barebones of the new setting in a way similar to how they unveiled the Summoner's Rift update, or the Legend of the Poro King gamemode. Or Sion, or Bard, or any new champ teaser/reveal page.

If they haven't done so in the last 10 months, and continue to not do so after the Bilgewater event, then it's safe to conclude that there is no setting anymore and that they're just writing isolated stories because that's easier than writing for an interconnected setting they don't even know basic facts about.

It just be all flash and bang now. Sad to say it be true.

Overall I merely don't expect that much and take the things that we do get.

I accepted that it takes them so long and will wait until they get their stuff together.

There is no point in lamenting the current state of lore over and over again. Its been done,we've expressed our dissatisfaction with it and they heard us and act like they think it is right. Complaining about it again will only lead to the same results.

I can understand that shortening Lore just isn't right. But you need 2 look at TahmKench release 4 example. His championpage. His Allies his Foes. Lores of some Yordles make so much more sense now, because we have TahmKench .
