What if all enemies that step on Zac's pool of goo become "Grounded"?

So the grounded mechanic currently only exists on Cassiopeia and seeing as Zac winrate has taken a skydive I think this could be a nice buff. I agree with the fact that tanks shouldn't do that much damage, but currently Zac's ult doesn't bring enough utility to compensate for said loss of damage. Making enemies that step on his ult grounded would help him a lot and potentially make him a counter pick against mobility champions, which are so rampant today.

I love you all.

Cassiopeia doesn't jump on you from 1800 range before carrying you back into her waiting team.

It would be a terrible idea.

Zac ult already takes all of no time to charge. Taking all of no time and inflicting Grounded would mean he would be basically guaranteed to always get it off on anybody who was around him when he began charging, and he would have to be balanced around that.

Balanced like Camille.

We need more things that counter dashes

Salron5/12/2017, 3:10:31 AM4 votes

That would remove counterplay from his ult

Theoretically, you could do the whole "AOE, it slows, but if you're in the middle of it you're grounded" kinda thing they do sometimes...?

Rexxiee5/12/2017, 2:45:50 AM2 votes

Grounded is an awful mechanic, stop it.

xJLx MCHammer5/12/2017, 2:53:48 AM2 votes

No

The idea is that if you step on his goo, you stop him from regenerating HP. So effectively, no mater what the enemy does, Zac wins...

Revert his ultimate. His current ultimate feels more like some support ultimate. Give him better scaling...

Agreed, his replaced ultimate is lackluster in function. Also bummed how ignorant (willingly or not) riot is about these extra crowd controls; grounded & interrupted (from poppy's presence) are great options that would let guardian tanks protect their team with.

The hard truth is they are intentionally making it so enemies knocked up by E have a tiny frame to flash away from ult so they wouldn't do that. Unless grounded didn't apply to flash. Which is a possible tweak before it's too involved in too many champions

They actually want Zac to be weaker against mobility because his leap is very effective versus immobile characters. In fact picking Zac in general but especially against immobile laners was in my playbook in the past.

But yeah it is a hard nerf that you don't get an instant knockback from ult via landing E. Zac's low current winrate is a result of adding counterplay and lowering his damage because his ult "seems" more frightening (and sunfire nerfs)

Dextix LT5/12/2017, 8:14:26 AM2 votes

But that would make him viable after his "rework" (NERF COUGH COUGH), we can't have that, can we?

Grounded is a great mechanic, but on Zac it's going to be pretty busted. Grounded should only be on moves that are made to lockdown enemies and prevent them from moving as fast. Cassiopeia's W and to an extent Poppy's W are great because they're there solely for slowing enemies down. I think Singed and Taliyah could also use Grounded in their kits because it's always great to have more counters to mobility.

Unpaladin5/13/2017, 12:41:17 AM2 votes

What if Zac's ultimate applied Grounded while also being balanced around the enemy walking out it? Similarly to how Jhin traps currently are.

Surely this would promote Zac hitting his E, slowing them with his Q, and then using his ultimate, yes? It would also effectively punish missed E's by making it harder to pull off, while also promoting chained crowd control from allies.

Meep Man5/13/2017, 12:43:05 AM2 votes

I would rather it be applied Grounded to enemies hit by the ultimate (aka after the bounce/knock-back). That way it still has counterplay and is possible to avoid since it already heavily slows enemies within.

OyddAWqJ5r5/12/2017, 7:18:45 AM1 votes

Unnecessary. He just needs way more damage. Far too much was removed from his kit. It's already in the works on PBE.

Also grounding opponents is unnecessary since it has such a tiny cast time anyway, your E guarantees your ult.

Daddy Ants5/12/2017, 8:35:28 PM1 votes

Lol that'd remove what counterplay Zac's ult has.

LankPants5/12/2017, 9:49:58 AM1 votes

It's not a bad idea but it's almost certainly incompatible with the changes he already has on the PBE. With this change in addition to his PBE changes he'd have a 1 sec knockup into a 1.1 sec ult charge which you couldn't escape if he landed an E at all. The mash flash to escape counterplay is why he has the extra 0.1 seconds of charging on the PBE.

Still if you were willing to keep the 0.5 sec knockup at all distances on E I don't think this would be at all a bad change.

Sexy Jack Rabbit5/12/2017, 4:15:04 AM1 votes

I think I fully support this. Duration would be a huge factor in it though, on top of that it's important to remember that Cassiopeia is seemingly allowed the mechanic so easily because she's quite immobile when she's not popped a Q.

Zac on the other hand is capable of ganking you from 1800 Units from Fog of War with a 1 second knock-up (next patch).

NineTailedMystic5/12/2017, 5:09:05 AM1 votes

Maybe if Grounded didn't hit Blinks/Flash too.

Tundra Hunter5/12/2017, 6:30:25 AM1 votes

They won't do it.

1st, they nerfed E stun from 1 sec to 0.5 sec, in order to give a window of 0.5 second to react to the ult between E stun and R charge (you get stunned by E, you can still flash out of R which to be charged during 1 sec).

After the recent buff, they have E stun being back to 1 sec, but R charge up to 1.1 sec, in order to still give a window to dodge R (flash for example).

Ground would prevent this "counter play", and that's not what they tried to create.

King of Demons5/12/2017, 2:55:50 PM1 votes

It's already essentially impossible to escape from if he hits you with his E. He really doesn't need another change

Laggiest Medic5/12/2017, 6:59:25 AM1 votes

im pretty sure they considered it at one point but in the end it seemed way too annoying
