On Hit Neeko

So I've been trying to pick up Neeko as my 2nd main next to Anivia and basically try to become a "2 trick" instead of a one trick. So I've been playing Neeko a lot lately and trying to figure out how exactly to build and get used to her match ups and then something struck me as odd. Why doesn't anyone actually play On-hit Neeko? I know Neeko isn't a popular champion and honestly she feels a little weak atm but even looking at pro builds or any site that shows what pro players build, they all use her as burst Neeko. Which is fine since burst Neeko is good and is the right way to really play her, but her W allows her a decent option to play her on hit especially with item 3124.

I'd assume it probably has to do with on hit Neeko having low wave clear during the main phase if you are maxing W first, which makes it hard to push wave and roam since she is a great roaming champion. Though I guess you could max Q first and grab item 3285 so you have burst, strong wave clear and then go right into item 3115 item 3124 with your W maxed second to transition into a strong on-hit build for the Mid game.

Also I know that the lane match up is also very important when deciding to do that as well...as I wouldn't even think about going on hit against some one who can burst me before even proc'ing W like Leblanc Zed or any assassin. Which is why I feel starting out maxing Q with getting a Luden's first (or maybe Protobelt, or even RoA) as your first item and then going into Nashor's and Rageblade might help with making the weaknesses of On-hit Neeko less annoying.

Any other Neeko players, have you tried On hit Neeko and if so, how did you do? What did you build? And I'm guessing Conquer be the best option on her for it? I guess Lethal Tempo would technically be better but if you planned on maxing Q and rushing a heavy AP item first, you'd get more out of Conquer. Thoughts?

I've tried it, it snowballs really good, but because it takes 3 attacks to get your on-hit damage and ms, you kind of have to rush rageblade, after that you probably want more attack speed, also I like it top more than anything, usually cause you have a range advantage and you won't deal with as many bursty champs.

I usually go item 3115 item 3124 item 3020 , into ap items (hextech gunblade is really good but kind of luxury in some cases) on neeko. I usually rush nashors simply because it gives more of a safety net in lane, it also allows me to do more dmg with abilities than rageblade would. Although I think it can work and be good mid, the only issue with doing it mid is the fact that you will be facing a lot of burst champs or high range ones which makes this build a little weaker. It's great at top lane (do rageblade rush top lane in most games, u get to aa more), and as adc. I personally main her as adc right now and it's pretty good. Imo, full ap neeko is probably better at mid lane and support. I think ap on hit neeko tends to be better at adc and top. Full on hit neeko is probably better at top than any other role. I've tried a crit build on her and I felt weaker than ap onhit. Maybe I will try a rageblade/blade/wits end build of some sort later on as adc.

Thanks for the replies, it's nice to see some answers considering that it feels she is really unpopular or at least rarely picked. I could play her top lane, though personally, I don't like playing ranged champions top into melee. Since I'm generally one that also complains about being melee into ranged, I'd feel really bad and like a hypocrite if I complain about ranged top laners and then pick some one ranged into melee. So I usually only play ranged top lane when the enemy does, though I guess I could still do it then as I feel AP/AS Neeko would still do pretty well into some of the top lane ranged champions Gnar Kennen Ryze Swain Urgot Vladimir just as long as I don't play her into someone like Jayce Teemo.

But yea I'll probably stick to mainly playing Burst Neeko mid lane, unless I'm going Top/ADC. Though maybe when I play her mid lane and the enemy team picks a heavier tank team then I can see going on hit, as burst Neeko probably wouldn't do so well into a really tanky team, where On hit would prob do very well late game.
