Personally I do not mind them. I think they are tedious, but I see value in the pressure they put me under. I think they are completely fine, but I know a lot of people do not like them. I would like to know why.
Also if I were to change them then I would only have the best of 5's between divisions instead of those and the best of 3's within divisions.
xAcidik2 votesI think they are good, because if they didn't exist, a winstreak would inflate your MMR, and a subsequent 50% winrate in the higher MMR would keep you climbing for quite awhile.

That depends on your goal. If you want to lump all of Bronze together, that's basically what you'd do by removing that. The inner division promos keep them separated more substantially. I don't think it'd be inherently bad, however. It would just mean you bounced between a few tiers of your division more often.

Lol I wish, I have tons of ideas for Riot. No, it's just a hobby of mine to find things like that out, and its also not really a hidden secret, it's how most competitive games with a separate skill rating and matchmaker rating work. I think it's a rather good system though. It rewards you for winstreaks if you've learned something new, practiced a bunch etc, and gets smurfs out of low elo games more quickly.
Eedat1 votesThy exist to balance out demotion protection. If promos were removed then we would be left with a system that artificially pushes people up the ladder. Think of it like a ratcheting mechanism that lets you move or spin one way but resists going backwards

I think it is fine, but if it were forced upon me to change it I think that the best of 3's would go and the best of 5's would stay. I personally think that having no protection between the division itself is fine, but still need between different divisions.
