AFKers and the new minions

So, we all know the joy of having and afk in our game, even if they come back within 5 minutes, it's enough to lose some serious ground. The jungle has to cover a lane, or the adc has to try to survive a 1v2 lane and gets zoned from xp and gold.

And of course we all know the joy of winning a 4v5 match through great teamwork and skill, because the playing field is always even outside of objectives.

All I can think is how this new minion system will only make things worse for teams dealing with afks. In solo queue it isnt rare to have someone afk for at least 5 minutes in 1 out of 4 games. In a lot of cases teams can recover from short disconnects early on, but this system will instantly begin to reward the opposing team. The afk sitting in base obviously isnt gaining levels, so your minions are going to be weaker by default, which makes life rough for your 1v2 adc pushed under the tower. He's probably going to lose his turret within the 5 minutes that it takes his support to return, which in turn gives the enemy an even greater advantage.

The notion that minions pushing harder toward your team gives you safer farming opportunities isnt exactly relevant here, because one of the most difficult parts of a 4v5 is dealing with pushes. Even if your afk returns and gets to farm and level from the pushed minions, the enemy has already gained a great deal more map control and momentum than they would have without these changes.

In short, teams get punished pretty harshly if one member is afk for even a few minutes.

AFKers have been a plague of mobas since forever, so why is Riot giving us a system that makes the problem even worse?

Guess we will have to nag our friends to play League so we have fewer chances of getting a random afk, and of course they will bring their $$$ with them. WP Riot.
